Mr Stewart saved the football club, plain and simple.
He got us from under the money grabbing Booth`s,and somehow got us an amazing stadium in the middle of town, since then we have had the best period in the club`s history, but the last 3 seasons has been more like the rest of our history pretty much, surely now people must realise what Paul Warne did was unprecedented at our club.
It`s obvious to everyone interested in the club that getting to the championship and staying there for anything more than 1 season is nigh on impossible given our fan base, and the amount of money the chairman is willing to lose,so it`s probably time for a re-set,which might involve a step backwards, but will you accept that ?
Many, many clubs, some a lot bigger than ours have spent time in a league that you might call "Below their natural level",didn`t Ipswich recently spend 4 or 5 seasons in league 1 ?
Hamshaw has been saying pretty much from day 1 that the club needed rebuilding,or re-setting if you like, back to something more akin to the "Proper" Rotherham United,I think he`s right, and I don`t think many fans would disagree with that, but to get there might be painful, and might take a while, but will he get the time,I`ve said it before, our best ever manager took 3 seasons to get out of the 4th division, how times have changed.
Tony Stewart has probably realised by now that he won`t achieve what he wanted for the club, and has probably had enough of this football club owner malarky, who can blame him,so if his family really aren`t that interested, then a change of ownership is the right thing to do.
If so,thank you for everything, and good health to you sir.

Rest assured, Tony Stewart will go down in Rotherham United folklore for those that care to view him like you/I do. I will always be eternally grateful for how he saved my club and delivered what he did but, like all fairground rides this one is due to stop soon.

TLC, great post. You can also add to that Sheff Utd took 6 seasons to get out of League 1 and look at the money they had at their feet all that time.

Getting out of league 1 isn?t a single event, it?s a number of events linking together jigsaw style

Out first piece is sacking Hamshaw

If MH is manager we will not be in L1 next season. I have no issue with us building again in L1 to try and have some success again in the future, but we are not sat midtable we are 5 points from safety, we have games coming up that are must win games against teams near us, draws at home won't do either we have to win football matches, have to stop conceding and start scoring.Look at the table looks at the other columns not just the points and see the reality of our situation. We have got rid of 3 players and brought in a 17 kid, we are naming players in the press we want our of the club, we have our COO stating that the manager hasn't raised issues about the backroom staff even though we have the worst injury crisis in our recent history.

Pretty much where I'm at. It would be laughable to think anyone would buy a football club without having access to decent advice, a good understanding of how owners are viewed when things aren't on a never-ending upward spiral, and funds to see it through to at least a point where they can walk away unharmed. It's also likely that if you do a half decent job you'll get the losses covered and the asset (the club, en masse) will appreciate. Sympathy will always be limited. Respect for what he did will remain. Clearly had no obligation to buy in, nor to take the risk of building NYS when we were in L2, and he will remain part of the club's history whatever happens.

It's easy to be passionate when it's not your money... yeah, maybe. It's also easy to ignore the lot, and disregard thousands of fans who's relationship with the club is a huge part of their life when you have the sort of financial insulation and freedom that comes with being in a position to own a club... which is how TS will end up being viewed by a number of fans if there are no real signs of trying to turn our situation around.

I'm full of respect for TS and think the positives over his tenure far outweigh any negatives, but I'm also of the belief that people who acquire vast fortunes require a certain amount of good luck on top of any work ethic, business acumen and specialist skills they may have, and for that reason I've no doubt that others who maybe missed out on the good luck when running their businesses, would have also been very good owners too. In other words, pay the due respect to owners who do the right things, but let's stop short of glorifying them to a point where we ignore the unspoken responsibility they have to do right by the fans until they depart.

Just when I'm singing your praise to NWC you have to spoil it with your toffee nosed 'prawnie' stance, I just hope they leave the shell on your next sandwich.....

After listening to the Rob Scott interview the club appears to be in disarray, which is quite alarming.Explaining in an excellent interview by Chris Gill, that the club is grossly mismanaged and underfunded.Unless we invest more the club will continue to struggle which is a shame, when we the fans have been paying one of the highest season ticket prices. At this time, three loanees have left the club and we have only brought in a young lad who is only just 17.We have got a small squad that needs strengthening with three very important matches coming up and still no signings.
