After the way he was abused at the end of the last home game, and his reaction to it, I'm guessing he won't be particularly motivated to stay.Originally posted by Masbroughstreet View PostWe aren't 'letting' Powell go, he's out of contract in the summer, we've no idea if he has or hasn't been offered a new contract yet, but either way he hasn't signed one yet. None of us know which way that will go at the moment.
He's one of those players who never hides even if things aren't going his way but unfortunately his end product is inconsistent at best.
We've had much better midfielders in recent times.

I'd agree with that, he never shies away from the ball even if he's having a bad game and he deserves credit for that, The same can't be said for some of the others.Originally posted by mellowmiller View PostHe's one of those players who never hides even if things aren't going his way but unfortunately his end product is inconsistent at best. Sorry have you not seen the way the club has dealt with out of contract players over the years? Of course you are correct that we do not have all the facts, but you can say that about any situation at the club, so do we all stop posting opinions and speculation and wait for documented club statements? This is a discussion board and as such we should use it for discussion, which will include speculation and opinions. What we do know is that his contract ends at the end of the season, we do know he has been one of our most consistent performers, with good or decent stats over his time at the club. He is a L1 footballer so he makes mistakes, he isn't perfect but who is? We do know that the club has previously stated in the press when it is looking to offer new contracts, and it hasn't published anything related to JPs situation. I do not think it is unreasonable for fans to speculate that at this time contract negotiations have not taken place. Our players under contract are assets to the club, we don't have many assets and so you would think that managing those assets would be important and not left to the last minute. Is it so unreasonable for fans to expect assets that have the potential to be sold and provide the club some income, should be managed well? After all how we approach these matters is within our control, even if the outcome is not.Originally posted by Masbroughstreet View PostWe aren't 'letting' Powell go, he's out of contract in the summer, we've no idea if he has or hasn't been offered a new contract yet, but either way he hasn't signed one yet. That's under 90 minutes you've seen.
So based on that same logic, if a young lad starts a new job on Monday, if he's not grabbed the chance and started performing like the long term employees by mid afternoon, we can bin him.
With fans like these, why bother opening the away end?
Ayres he's still getting paid. Only mistake we've made should have got a big forward in before loaning him out.

Are you his agent? 😉Originally posted by Derbymiller View PostSorry have you not seen the way the club has dealt with out of contract players over the years? Sorry, but could you point out where I said it's unreasonable to speculate or discuss? BarnsleyWhites said he didn't know we were letting Joe Powell go, and I merely said we aren't letting him go and we don't know what's happening yet. I just posted something that was true as far as I know it, if you want to speculate about stuff, knock yourself out.Originally posted by Derbymiller View PostSorry have you not seen the way the club has dealt with out of contract players over the years? No but i will stick up for players that at least turn up for work and put a shift in. His availability record over his time here has been excellent and he gets kicked allover the place. A lad that gets personal abuse from fans when he goes over to thank them for their support after the team lost again, and still comes into the West stand to sign autographs and have his picture taken with fans, deserves some respect and appreciation. That is a general statement and is not directed at you personally.Originally posted by mellowmiller View PostAre you his agent? 😉

I don't think any fair minded supporter would question his availability or effort and as I've said earlier, he never hides even if he's not having a particularly good game.Originally posted by Derbymiller View PostNo but i will stick up for players that at least turn up for work and put a shift in. What is questionable however, is his end product.
If the published statistics are correct for this season to date, in 27 appearances he has 2 goals and 2 assists. The assists number is particularly disappointing considering he takes the majority of set pieces. Just my opinion.

Apparently TS considering an ?800K bid for Sam from BWFC - can anyone confirm if this is so?Originally posted by mellowmiller View PostI don't think any fair minded supporter would question his availability or effort and as I've said earlier, he never hides even if he's not having a particularly good game.
