  • O/T C F Booths

Don’t know if there’s anything in this but has anyone heard anything that C F Booths have gone bust? A delivery lad that delivers to our company also today said he went today and everything was locked up, this backs up what my work colleague whose partner works there said earlier in the week, it was Ken Jnr funeral the other week and wondered if it was a family decision? Thought there was money in scrap unless the family that’s left have decided to put it up for sale
This might all be rumour but was just thinking all that land that Booths is on must be worth a few quid and if/once cleared you would get a few houses on there, close to Town centre for Council to get their hands on

Yes mate, Booths have shut up shop.
Just checked with my granddaughter, her other grandad is / was the foreman up to yesterday.
Staff went into work yesterday morning, told jobs were gone, made redundant.
He has worked there for over 40 years.

Grist they would probably have to dig 20-40 feet down to remove all the contaminated earth but it has been done before elsewhere in the UK.

Sad to see such a loyal workforce lose their jobs but that is business for you.

Would Tony dare dream of buying Millmoor as a training ground? I think not but new owners may.

The mere thought of those majestic floodlights toppling brings a tear to the eye, so many memories of that ground 😢

Millmoor would be useless as a training ground, it?s not the 1960s.

A modern training ground needs at least 3 or 4 full grass pitches plus an all weather pitch. Millmoor is nowhere near big enough to fit that on.

Genuine question this, but how many clubs in league 1 have a facility that you describe?

I was referring to a full size pitch to play on you can call your own and not having to rent one like at Parkgate.

What you refer to would be in line with what a club should have but, not in this League.

                      More than you think M8.
Just looking at the league table
                      Cardiff
Lincoln had a grant in 2017 for a 1.6 million facility
Stockport use the old man city Carrington road
Bolton and Huddersfield have great facilities
Bradford train at a academy complex with 5 pitches and a all weather pitch.
Luton play at the brashe training complex
Stevenage use the bragbury end 42acre training complex
Reading at Bearwood park which is premier league class.
Lost interest now but you get the picture

                          Exeter City

                          Training Facilities Overview
The Cliff Hill Training Ground is a state-of-the-art facility that includes a floodlit, all-weather 3G pitch with a contemporary cork infill surface.

Usage: The all-weather surface allows the first team to train effectively during winter months and is also used by the Exeter City Academy, the Ladies team, and the Football in the Community charity all year round.

Other Amenities: The site includes grass pitches, changing rooms, and a new purpose-built building that houses improved working spaces for club management and staff, as well as facilities like a cafe.

There's quite a write-up on the BBC website news page for South Yorkshire. No mention of Millmoor or the Millers.

One of the largest metal recycling businesses in Europe is now for sale, administrators say.
