  • Benson

    Out for several more weeks.
Quote from Hamshaw.... "he's had injuries which we knew about"
So why did we hire him? We didn't HAVE TO.
Would you buy a car that you know keeps breaking down? Nah course not

Nothing to see here. Just another MH signing that hasn?t worked.
Don?t forget though all of his problems are inherited and he needs to move those players on.
Add Martha and the dodgy keeper the 3 loan players that have gone back and it?s clear to see his problems have all been inherited.

I suspect it was the old Alfa Romeo logic. He'll not get you to work every day, but when he does it'll be a hell of a trip.

Wrong move though, we're not the sort of club who can afford to take chances like that.

Benson is a talented footballer, of that there is no doubt, but he is clearly made from balsa wood .
Hamshaw thought he was worth a gamble on short deal which in the grand scheme won't cost us a great amount ,fair enough.

TLC, yes I can see the logic of a 1 year deal but the return has been really poor playing time wise. Barnsley fans did warn us what to expect and they weren't wrong.

I am sure the club will say, worth the gamble because others would stay generally fit.

Except, we already had leftovers from evans who we also knew would not stay fit or play well. So when others on here say it’s all imports by MH, they are completely wrong. But then some still love evans and will not admit it.

I prefer to wait until all the leftover dross has gone.

But, no, I would not have signed benson either, or etete, but when funds are not there, and they clearly like now or not there still, you have to being someone in. Think about it.

Just looking at some stats on https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/

Benson has played 613 minutes in the league with 2 goals and 2 assists that have directly contributed to us getting 6 points.
Hugill has played 1,574 minutes with 2 goals and 1 assist that have directly contributed to us getting 3 points.

Who has been the better value for money?

Other trialist we got in Yearwood looking more like now getting his chance. Holding midfielder could be useful rest of the season.

With this news about Benson I would hope we are now looking for a creative midfielder. One who can pick a pass, unlike the current crop.
