That doesnt mean he is set for a long term succeful career. And this is the problem, young players need developing over two to three season. Some will, some will fail but that will not be done over an 18 month period. TS wants it both ways, cheap investment and instant success. It doesnt work. You either have to pay the cash for proven players - which he has said he wont do, or get youngster in on longer term deals and hope they develop.

You've got to have not just the ability also the desire/determination to start with. Don't believe Martha & Kaleta have that.

People raved about Thomas Holmes after his debut(myself included) but the truth dawned on us after two or three more games.
I must say though, we seem to have a lot of centre backs

I can?t remember any lows, maybe caught out once but never had a bad game in my opinion !

There were a few blips towards the end of his run. I?m not trying to suggest he?s a poor player because I don?t think he is but equally you can?t claim he?s a proven player just get. Fingers crossed though.

We have right now. But don't forget we'll be losing Raggett and Baptiste at the end of the season. Plus, Rafferty, Jules and Reece James are all out of contract this summer. So we might be looking at a defensive rebuild before next season which makes it good business for the club to get a permanent deal for a defender now, rather than last minute.

On the face of it a good signing and the lad seemed genuinely pleased to be here in his interview. As for the contract, I'm hoping that we have an extension clause that we can activate if he's any good.

That’s not what I was saying at all. I was pointing out there are two routes - spend on experience or bring in youth and develop them. With this signing, we in my opinion, we are doing neither. We are brining in a young player on a short term contract because we are taking th cheap option.

You MH will realise that three at the back isn’t working, or that telling the experienced center back that is signed at the club and won man of the match that he can leave and is being replaced by a kid on 18 month contract might not be the best piece of business.
