  • MillerMad Matchthread - Stevenage v The Millers

Sorry for the late start. I?ve been driving through Normandy.

When was the last time we won our opening 2 league games in a season? Next week we could be asking when was the last time we won 3! And then there are cup games to win! I doubt we will go all season mind 😂

Football is as important as anything we take for granted because of these guys!

    UNITED IN EFFORT
D-Day would not have been possible
without the courage and sacrifice of many people from the United Kingdom and its allies
who made ***** contributions to the success of the operation.
In the months and years before D-Day.
Allied personnel flew reconnaissance flights over France and made secret surveys of the French coast.
Secret agents operated behind enemy lines alongside the French Resistance.
And from early 1944, Allied air forces attacked targets to weaken the German defences.
Personnel from many other nations fought alongside and supported the British in Normandy:
they included men and women from Australia, Belgium, Canada, Czechoslovakia. Denmark, France, Greece, Ireland.
the Netherlands. New Zealand. Norway, Poland, South Africa and the United States of America. supporting the efforts of the military forces were millions of civilians
in factories and dockyards in the UK and further afield.
Many who lived through D-Day and the Battle of Normandy were forever marked by their experiences.
Some later died from wounds received during the campaign.
Others suffered at length from psychological trauma.
They all played their part. Many gave their lives.

While we've got Kelly Hugill James playing left wing back in the side doesn't give me confidence today.

Morning, Frog?n?all. Your travels are obviously front and center in your mind - which is understandable.

My dad was there, too. Not on D Day but a bit later and he was in North Africa too before. Later he went on to Berlin and was part of British Intelligence in the push to de-Nazify Germany.

My mother was on the other side - unwillingly. Spent 18 months living in the cellars of a bombed out apartment building struggling with day and night bombing from the allies.

War is a ****-show whichever way you look at it.

A draw would be good (in today?s match, I mean?)

You?re probably correct! I was looking at some photos when we stopped and realised that I hadn?t done the match thread.
I think it?s magic that you can copy the writing on piece of stone and paste it directly on to here.

Wait until I mix up valentines with Halloween 😂

I am not enjoying watching Dawson kicking up field aimlessly

Looks like most of the Stevenage football watching community are still on holiday. Stands are half empty.

Very little off the ball movement. Keep having to go backwards

Have to say as much as some may fear Raggett starting, we looked a lot more composed with his towering presence.

He's calm and collected with the ball at his feet while his height is clearly evident in anything that comes into our box through the air.

Welcome back Sean, you've been clearly missed.

Some good strong work there from Hugill. Poor cross by James after all that.

Hall is impressing me. At the moment he looks better than this level

Referee is being very generous to the home team
