  • Championship clubs to vote on expanding the play offs.

A good or a bad idea?

I get those finishing 3rd and 4th will go straight through to the semi finals and rightly so having finished so high.

The formula seems to work in the National League so why not go for it? It will be the bigger money clubs that won't like it though so, I expect them to vote against it. Imagine the likes of us ever finishing 6th just scraping in and then going on to beat a far bigger money club

EFL clubs will vote on expanding play-offs in the Championship from four to six teams at a meeting next month.

I don’t know how old you are Towner but unfortunately I don’t think I will see the Millers in 8th position of the Championship.

When Warne left,so obviously that season would have been a promotion (possibly).
During Emlyn's tenure we almost did it,that's the last I remember.

I would expand the play offs to include all the teams in the league, who must play each other twice, home and away, over the course of 42 games. Wins equal three points, draws a point apiece, no points for a defeat. After 42 games, the top three are declared the playoff winners and promoted. The bottom three are relegated to a lower tier playoff, or “division”’.

          It will never catch on.

Mmm....... Promotion on merit? A bit radical, but it's an idea I suppose.

You mean 46 games? Showing your age Old_time_miller, it's been a while since the old 1st and 2nd Divisions had 22 teams

More earning potential i suppose but you will still get managers and players complaining about too many games and longer seasons
