I was thinking same about Baptiste. He could do an Arnason in that role .Originally posted by ManorFarmMiller View PostAssuming no Gore & Powell.
Spence, Yearwood, get what you can from Benson, Kelly
McW puts in no effort, I would gamble on Baptiste playing CDM before playing McW in there

I would rather we played Gore with his arm in a sling than McWilliams.
Unfortunately Spence is a bit of a fraud. True he tries to put a tackle in when we don't have the bal but when we're in possession he hides. He's always alongside or behind an opponent and rarely shows to receive the ball. If you don't believe me, just watch him. He'll have to play though because no-one better is available.
Based on the brief cameo on Tuesday night it might be worth giving Watmore a run in midfield. He certainly looked as though he could pick a pass and we do have other striker options at the moment.
Can't say I'm looking forward to Saturday though ☹️.

No Powell, no Gore, Kelly and Benson can't manage regular football, Cover should be nowhere near a professional football match, Yearwood gives the ball away exactly as often as he wins it.... wow, where do we go right now...?
Debut Adegboyega, bang-in-form Spence, vs. Lincoln City McWilliams... there's your three, with wing backs on MH's back three, and two up front. Other versions of those three and we're getting overrun.

The only trouble with that is Warnocks teams had desire, planning & togetherness.we are not good enough to play a front three.Originally posted by ManorFarmMiller View PostIMO we should go to a Warnock style 433
Dawson
Raff, Adeboyega, Jules, James
Baptiste
Spence Benson
Gray Nombe Whatmore
Kelly to replace Benson when he is tired, Yearwood as backup

......at the moment we haven't got the will or the legs to win a match. we have to step it up to win v Donny.
Why bring another "good" Man U young un in and not have him in the side, or has the Curse of Roundwood got him?
Surely they will put more effort in than what we saw Tuesday night.
All our rivals are starting to nick 3pts, sadly we dont look capable......UTM.Last edited by avondalemiller; 19-02-2026, 02:36 PM.

I would go with that formation but replace Whatmore with Biancheri and use Duncan later in the match.Possibly also have Agbaire for one of the central defenders but keep to four at the back.Originally posted by ManorFarmMiller View PostIMO we should go to a Warnock style 433

Absolutely no chance of that unfortunately.Originally posted by Lolmorgan View PostThe only trouble with that is Warnocks teams had desire, planning & togetherness.we are not good enough to play a front three.
Baptiste will be one of the 3 centre halves again and Nombe and Gray will be the front two.
Same old same old from the Ruben Amorim of the lower leagues. Will he ever learn or will TS do what Manchester United did and put an interim manager in place........probably Richard Wood? 🫣

Adeboyega looked well dodgy at centre back against Cardiff. I'd have Agbaire or Harrison Duncan in the side before him.

Imagine the worst possible side, formation and selection of players in the wrong position and that is what MH will do. It wouldn't surprise me if he is planning on playing Martha in a holding midfield role.
Remember his comment in the post Burton match about why he went with three at the back. We looked at how they played and set up accordingly, however they changed their formation !!!
Firstly does he think we are idiots, the reason he set up that was it is what he believes in and his ego is stopping him changing because he thinks it makes him look bad. Secondly, that might happen a lot Matt, as other managers might anticipate you having had them watched....perhaps having a proper plan B that you have worked on in the 10 days you had, might be something to consider in the future.
As for midfield this week, without Gore and Powell we have very little, MH recruits are not at the same level as either of those players. I think park the bus and hope to catch them on the break. 4-2-3-1 with Benson, Watmore, Gray in the 3 and the man Utd lad to come on second half to give some pace. The 2 holding players are 2 from the remaining 4 of kelly, Yearwood, Spence and McWilliams but straws and clutching are the words that come to mind.

Can you imagine Hamshaw experimenting with Baptiste in midfield and we end up losing? He wouldn't be sacked after the game, he'd be ****ing executed. That's not for me, it's far too much of a big game.
The midfield starts with Spence and Yearwood. And after that it is anyone's guess because we won't be getting 90 minutes out of Benson and Watmore and we haven't seen enough of Cover or Sousa. So it's down to the manager to get the best out of what we have. I'd like to think both Benson and Watmore get some good minutes on Saturday and Biancheri given more of a chance.
Hamshaw has the tools (players) to smash Doncaster to pieces on Saturday, but can he make it happen?

Smash em to pieces? I love the optimism but I really don't see it.Originally posted by Heliosphan78 View PostCan you imagine Hamshaw experimenting with Baptiste in midfield and we end up losing?
