Stansmate and other Taylor knockers. He endured terrible personal tragedy during his time at Bristol Rovers (given lengthy leave of absence ) and couldnt be expected to to be focused on his job.Prospective new employers will be considerate of that dreadful period. On Sky Sports website there is an extensive interview with Taylor (Oct 13 last year) which you may like to read.

I've nothing but sympathy for his personal situation, and I'd accept that he's a very intelligent guy who is articulate and knows the game, but that changes nothing about the fact that he was awful at Rotherham and hasn't shown that he's a good L1 manager.Originally posted by Timbertop View PostStansmate and other Taylor knockers. If there's even a sniff of a chance TS is looking at options to fill a MH void to save us from the drop, an old hand makes far more sense than Taylor. Taylor lost 5 of his first 10 when he took over with us, and did the same with Bristol. He's not a 'hit the ground running' manager.

I dont want him back it would split the fan base even further which is not difficult to do.Originally posted by UlleyMiller View PostI've nothing but sympathy for his personal situation, and I'd accept that he's a very intelligent guy who is articulate and knows the game, but that changes nothing about the fact that he was awful at Rotherham and hasn't shown that he's a good L1 manager.

To say he was awful well we took on some of the big boys in the championship and at times we beat them or pushed them close.
We played some great football too.
Shed Utd away springs to mind but Burnley away was a game we really looked like we belonged in the championship.
When he was sacked we werent sure of going down but TS didnt like being told some home truths and reacted to 2 bad performances and results.
Like I said I dont want him back but as has already been said if he was awful then this one in charge must go in the diabolical, horrendous, hopeless, pathetic, category.

We'd lost 9 of 16 that season, the win against Coventry was the sole highlight (Norwich was decent, but taking the rose-tinted glasses off, Norwich were easily better that day). Taylor was sacked because we were playing horrendously and effort was missing (losing at the pig pen was one of the worst outings I've ever seen in 40 years). The prior season we had some great outings, but a lot of credit for that sits with what Warne left (we were 8th with a game in hand which could have put us up to 4th). Taylor oversaw a steady decline that season and almost a freefall the next (left us in 22nd, shortly after signing Ayala - a personification of his time).Originally posted by Yak View PostI don?’t want him back it would split the fan base even further which is not difficult to do.

Hamshaw has been bad for us. There have been signs he was getting it, but he's been far too stubborn, hasn't motivated the lads, has routinely failed to make an impact with subs/half time talks, has had a middling to poor time with transfers, and if he leaves, does so with us looking at very likely relegation. But despite how poor we are now, and contrary to some comments that L1 is an "easier league" (they're all relative unless you have Cardiff, Birmingham type resources), the gulf between MT and MH is barely worth discussion. Both have been a very bad fit, and both (in their own way, and to differing extents) took us backwards.
It's time to part with one, and definitely not to bring the other back. I've said on here recently that I think there's thinking upstairs that going down isn't necessarily a bad thing and I think the current situation supports that... but if I'm wrong, it has to be a Warnock type appointment where the guy knows it's until May only, and is well compensated for L1 survival. Huge effort then behind the scenes to secure a longer term fix from May.
