Could have gone anyway. Brightened up last 20 minutes. Really pleased for young Holmes to get his first goal for the club in a tense situation.
If Viktor had saved 2 penalties you'd all be frothing at the mouth, but I suppose Dawson was just lucky. I'll say it, well done Cam!!

Dawson had a good game, pulled off two very good saves made to look easy by very good positioning, he also came and collected a few crosses. The penalties were superb really so well done to him. His distribution is poor, we need to be quicker and giving him options to play out and not goofball, especially when there is no CF on the pitch, which was all game last night.

His distribution is a bit like a Sunday league keeper - just blast it and hope it goes anywhere near the halfway line. It?s amazing for a pro of many years, nobody has ever tried to improve it. It?s not that hard!

Timbertop has nailed it. A few sat around me last night were saying the same. There are some fans now accepting out terminal decline into division 2.

Last night was dross. We struggled against a bang average L2 side. Don't put Hughill in a Rotherham shirt again, he is an embarrassment to himself and his profession. Nombe also not the answer and we need to cash in. Although my confidence in RS and PD to be able to "cash in" is utterly zero.

We are now the conclusion of years of conservativism which as we know gradually grinds down the overall quality. I agree with post above, have we been in decline now so long that some people are just Borg, assimilated into the dross of a club we now are. Still no connect to the team, the players, the process and that will not change until the board let others have a go. They had their time, had their chance and fluffed it from the James Taverner / Dickho era. That's when we should have gone the next level.

What we are watching right now is as bad as when Danny Bergara was manager.

As MH says, it will take years to sort out and that is admission that the club has been run badly.

I really want MH, AW and Woody to do well, we all do, but they're under the same restraints. I don't think the club can provide the players they believe we need.

            L2 beckons

Timbertop hasn’t nailed anything. I don t know anyone who overall is happy with last nights performance.
At times it was shocking. However we did show second half some positive play. Quick mobile and dangerous. The supporters who are trying to focus on the positives are mature and balanced enough to understand that it’s going to take time to get better.
It’s been the sane with every manager apart from Warnock. We win and were works beaters we lose were pathetic.
Our fan base imo just wants to win it’s that simple and the manager is either liked or disliked. It was the same with SE last season.
We can’t keep sacking managers and we are trying to go fine the young hungry footballers route who we can coach and sell for a profit.
Peterborough are lauded for this. Do they play well every week of course they don’t.
For me I wish everyone would just give it time instead of constant negativity.

Some of our "fans" are just itching for failure.

He can't say anything negative because the scenario he's facing involves either shipping him out (talk him up, make him seem appealing for potential suitors), trying to get the best out of him (talk him up, clearly the SE tactics failed on everyone), or sitting him on the bench while the only legitimate option is injured. Unfortunately we sometimes have to play a bit of a game when managing because honesty can be far more damaging than truth with good intentions. Ideal world scenario we dumped him a year ago, or this summer at worst.

We made it through a cup game. That's not something any Miller takes for granted, and maybe there's a few quid to be made from the next round and, importantly, another competitive game with no real consequences to our season where we can get the young lads to get minutes under their belts. I appreciate some are impatient, but if fans are going to moan at both the style of play and the result, then it's getting beyond silly.

Three games in and we've had success in two and lost by a goal in the other. We have signed (permanently) some young prospects who (in some cases) already show real promise. Fees have been paid in some cases, not just a ramshackle bunch of 30+ free signings and loanees. We even farmed JCH out. The doom and gloom around this board is ridiculous.

                          Exactly. Bugger off to S6.

No doom from me positives from last night. Still think McGuckin he's got scope only got back from injury wouldn't have been fully match sharp. Midfield still lacking something but Yearwood played better 2nd half. James Clarke needs to used more now.

I thought hugill played ok last night. Not an eye catching performance but a steady 6/10. Don't forget he was playing like a sole striker due to mcguckin not being match fit.
This team will be fine this season and can see a top 10 finish. . Not ideal for the glass half empty gang.
Btw love the comments about 2 AVG teams. Always the same when we win. Haha.

Extraordinarily generous with a 6/10. I’d go for 3/10 at best. I struggle to see what’s going off with him. Either he was never very good, or his fitness has declined sharply since he joined us, or he simply is a bitter player who thinks himself better than RUFC.

I also think a top 10 finish is wishful thinking. Even more so now Nombe will be missing for at least a few months and maybe more.

The next 5 matches will set the tone.
