What mine or others personal achievements are has nothing to do with whether PD is a good COO or not. I am sure he has done well under TS, and to be fair to him if you can get paid what he gets paid and get away with it, good on him, however that isn't the issue.
As suggested by others when they label him a lapdog, he is a TS man, he does what TS wants and TS comes across as a very authoritarian leader that likes people that say "yes sir, no sir". TS saved the club and we have had good years under him, but something has changed in the last few years, the leadership at the club has been in decline and we are now reaping the outcome of weak, poor leadership.
So many things are wrong and the executive management is one of those things but not the only one. I fear for my beloved Rotherham United under this leadership and i do not feel that using the position of the team manager as a plaster will seal the wounds and repair the sickness that runs deep within the club.
I feel it is time for a change of owner and leadership, and yes we have to be careful for what we wish for, but i see a club led by the Stewarts sat in the bottom 8 next season fighting off another relegation.Last edited by Brin; 21-03-2026, 04:10 PM.

What happened is Paul Warne walked away from the club.Originally posted by Derbymiller View PostWhat mine or others personal achievements are has nothing to do with whether PD is a good COO or not. He was probably doing some of Paul Douglas's job for him or at least papering over the cracks.
Definitely papered over the cracks for an ageing chairman.
We should see the annual accounts in the next two weeks. Last year's accounts were already published by the middle of March 2025. They'll show the financial commitment the chairman has put in.
Not that he'll get any thanks or sympathy whatsoever if it's cost him a fair penny
Rightly or wrongly.

I don't have access to any information regarding what Paul Warne was doing or whether Rob scott was covering certain areas, after all he was made Director of Football or something similar at one point. You are correct that TS has covered us financially and as i mentioned his role in saving us and giving us success in his time as chairman, is something we should be grateful for. It just feels like a change would be best for all parties.Originally posted by howdydoo View PostWhat happened is Paul Warne walked away from the club.

I agree. He's too old. One of many reasons why I hope a change happens quickly and people remember the good times.Originally posted by Derbymiller View PostI don't have access to any information regarding what Paul Warne was doing or whether Rob scott was covering certain areas, after all he was made Director of Football or something similar at one point. I think almost everyone does, and the good times we?ve enjoyed. But all good things and all that. Nothing lasts forever. Yes, cliches, but they become cliches for a reason. I think our only hope is that the new director has an ambition and a willingness to take over and run the club himself. Maybe his current standing is by way of proving to Tony that he?s worthy, after previous rumoured investors were turned away? I know he?s said not, but he?s never going to come in and say ?I?ve got my eye on a takeover? is he.Originally posted by millersrus View PostRemember the state we were in when Tony Stewart took over the club?

Beau, can see him being in charge but probably put someone else to run it, I think he's too busy to run RUFC?Originally posted by Beaufighter View PostI think almost everyone does, and the good times we?ve enjoyed. Been said Phil Smith has come into the club, to look at ways in helping it move forward.
Perhaps he will take note on what Paul Douglas brings to the club.
If as Paul Douglas is just Tony Stewarts messenger man [goffer], Phil Smith may think
why do the club need him. when the owner / chairman can speak himself.
If Tony Stewart sells up, & Phil Smith has something to do with the club, it could be the
end of Paul Douglas time with the Millers.

I've always thought that commercially we're a few years off the curve (not a COO issue in most structures), and obviously on the pitch we're in a mess (again, not really a COO issue in the context of a football club), but I've seen little to suggest PD is anything short of what you'd expect from someone in his role in a club of this size. Unless my guess at the sort of remuneration he'll receive is way off, it's not a role I think many would fancy, considering the options they'd have to be at that salary level in the first place and the amount of pressure/grief his role comes with.
