  • Congratulations Coventry City

Back in the PL after 25 years.

Ironic really that just 4 years on from the debacle where their opening home game against us was postponed due to the state of their pitch (we were back in the Championship and had started with a 1-1 draw at NYS against Swansea), they will begin the 2026-7 season in the top flight while we'll start in the basement.

Events that shortly followed that postponement clearly sent the two clubs on totally opposite trajectories.

Yes congratulations to Coventry. i've been watching a few of their games with their run in and they have really stuttered to get it over the line. Now they've done it though, they will probably play with more ease to go on to win the tile.

As for totally opposite trajectories, I recall going to play them away at Northampton's ground and loads of their fans had travelled down but refused to go into the ground as a protest to the current owners at that time. They were very friendly, no trouble whatsoever.

My how times have changed for both our clubs. Having said that, we've also enjoyed some great years of late with enjoyable promotions, Wembley visits and wins. Now we start again to attempt to rise like a Phoenix from the flames.

How times change indeed. Coventry were a top flight side for quite a while during the 70s - that free kick goal still lives on in the memory. Good to see them back there - will be interesting to see how they fare. Good luck to them

And Ipswich might grab 2nd,like being back in the 80s.
Well done to them, have been close for a few seasons, and I suspect their budget is no where near the biggest.
