Following suit, Accrington bow out to Mansfield Town so who will our new team The Stags be rewarded with in Round 3?

Testament to how far the FA Cup has fallen, Saturday's results on the BBC website appear below the NL and all Scottish Leagues and Sunday's are even below the Scottish SWL, a competition so prestigious that Celtic and Rangers won their respective ties 14-0 and 8-0. Might as well shove the FA Cup below my grandson's team's result, they won 16-0 this morning.

Thanks Lol. Despite the dilution of the competition, we as fans will still look on with envy as our local rivals host Brentford and Southamption and another one of them visits the reigning PL Champions in Round 3.

Looks like most PL and Championship teams will be turning out with their reserves today. Another sad reflection of the FA Cup in 2026 on what used to be one of the most exciting days in the footballing calendar.

Ahead of todays cup tie against Palace, I thought id reacquaint myself with Macclesfield and whats happened to them since the BBC doc about how they were formed in 2020. The reason I’m mentioning that here is because i was surprised to find out that the manager at the time, Danny Whittaker, was sacked about 12 months later. Whats notable is that the club were 5 points clear at the top of the league but had just had a run of three defeats. Crikey, Matt! Fancy that.

Well done to Macclesfield, a great game to watch and a memorable victory. Also lovely to hear the story since 2020 and how the owner runs the club commercially to help rebuild the club, great story.

The Stags will now visit Burnley in the 4th round. Will they upset the applecart by beating both the curse and a PL opponent? Good luck to them.

That Leeds v Norwich match should be a good match as Norwich of late seem to have found a new groove and are playing well.
