Not sure if anyone ever visited this small but pleasant eatery having left the Arc cinema or just gave it a try?

Well having been to The Arc last Thursday we decided to call in and eat at the SD. A very nice warm greeting met us,
Dala was his name as he guided us to a table. Drinks and food ordered we went on to throughly enjoyed the meal. Prices I thought were reasonable enough.

Upon paying the bill, Dala informed us yesterday was the last day of opening. He went on to explain they had not made it pay and the rent the council charged was hard to cover. You may think that with the foot flow from the cinema that it might have attracted more diners but alas it wasn't to be.

Glad we called in before it closed and it's a shame it didn't work out for the owners. Wonder who opens up next?

It's a shame if that's the case. I never went in to be honest but I've eaten at the Vetro Lounge more than once. It's nice there. I've had a breakfast in there on a Saturday before the match.

Such a shame as even though the cinema appears to be doing well it hasn’t got much “support” round it to warrant going and making an afternoon/evening of it, I feel really sorry for Vetro Lounge as I’m sure the owners would probably think there would be some more outlets around them by now, why does it take our council/authorities so long to get things done (look at Corporation Street or the market for examples)
I am not going to pretend I know things about it because I don’t but is this another white elephant?

uttis, there is the other recently opened Heavenly Desserts (Forge Island): Located just across from the main town centre area at Unit 5, Forge Island, this spot serves premium gelato, ice cream sundaes, waffles, and cookie dough. It is part of the new leisure development that includes the Arc Cinema, offering a modern setting with views of the Minster.

Also have to say that Corporation Street and Upper Millgate look much better now they've been re flagged. Once all the building has been completed where the two burnt out buildings were, old Gas showroom for those old enough to recall it, it will look far more appealing.

I find Rhinos extremely pleasing on the eye. Just a lick of paint and a couple of tiles on the roof and it could reopen

Sadly it just underlines the malaise this town is under, led by an inept council. All they care about is spending grant money, following under coppard’s way, on things that won’t work here, especially since they don’t work that well much in sheffield.

A walkway which costs so far over 600k, needs to go behind a falling to bits sorting office. Next will be building on the big westgate car park land they acquired. That’s what they are about. Live there and you will have to go out of town to eat out now like the SD.

12 million quid for the new traffic light system at the bottom of potterhill in greasbrough that hasn?t made any difference to the traffic congestion through the village. Rotherham council have admitted as much . The 12 million quid figure is what I was told so don?t know if that?s accurate.

Stov, they we told that the present traffic control at the bottom off Potter Hill wouldn't work. The excess traffic coming thro the village was Rawmarsh/Pargate bound and the real problem was further on opposite the East Lodge entrance to the Dams with all the right turning cars causing the back-up. They didn't have enough funding to do both so they picked the wrong one to start with.

Brin, they are trying, admitted..but its all going to be a white elephant..the town is dead and buried..the rent is too high, that goes for all the shops too..who would ever want to come to rotherham? Its a total dump and you can be in barnsley in 20 minutes and have anything yould like to buy..well never have a town centre as good as barnsley while eastwood is on the town centres doorstep..
