Tripped yourself up with the never go back there. Ronnie as manger first time outstanding, 2nd time not so great. So yeah never go back agreed. Ronnie Moore, Steve evans bit of a theme don?t you think. As in players who have played for the club definitely go back. If they are willing to come back as a manager after playing here then that shows there affiliation to the club, again Ronnie, Warney and if your counting youth teams hammy.

I think some people are getting a bit mixed up here.
Nobody is denigrating the achievement of Stevenage getting into the play offs but the football they have played has been tedious at best.
There is a lot of misty eyed sentimentality because their manager is one of our hero ex players but I sincerely doubt if there would be the same enthusiasm if say Gareth Ainsworth rather than Alex Revell was in charge.

I haven?t looked, but I doubt any of their fans are complaining. I remember seeing similar comments from fans of other teams about us during promotion seasons, but I didn?t give a stuff.
Not that I?m wanting Revell here particularly. I?d like to see what Clark can do, it?s just calling out of teams that have been more successful, consistently, over a season looks Churlish at best, and downright silly when your own team is relegated next to bottom.

Waiting for any manager in play offs, 1 to fail and entice here or 2 go up and entice then by paying more is hardly any sensible mind would try.
Who is to say they would come anyhow?
And waiting till May 23/24 is crazy.
On the other hand, if stewart had in the unlikely event got someone, he would already now be installed. So waiting for one of those proposed in play offs and had already agreed to come pending, still leaves the issue of a whole month lost while waiting.
Some of the above may be forced, if we do not have anybody, we do not. But, why is Stewart not interviewing or trying?
Seems to me clark will end up being asked back because they are clueless, when all avenues come to a dead end….and clark will love being messed above and tell them what ne thinks!
Regardless of scenarios pending, to go awol for 2 weeks knowing nothing could be done due to playing the 2 waiting game, not announcing ticket prices, leaving a total vacuum, and no club statement, is taking the *iss in the extreme.
I have joined in with my take on it, but whatever is going off, this is one of the worse in a long line of stewart blunders.
And I for one am heartily sick of him, even club saviour of years standing or not.
Anything we can think of regarding a manager or squad recruitment is almost academic.
Whatever happens in the next month, take over, not, investment, not, we are going to be WOEFULLY underprepared. Full stop.Last edited by Old_time_miller; 05-05-2026, 08:24 PM.

Stevenage could easily have not got in the play offs, in a poor division, with dreadful to watch football, then I am sure no one would then be saying well done alex.
Fact is, there is not a manager currently in the bottom two divisions good enough, or with the right approach, to satisfy the needs of what the club or majority of supporters require, other than warne or someone very much akin and I cannot think of one.
Certainly not AR or DA.
The likes of managers of the promoted D1 sides exempt, they would not come.
The debate is academic.

Warney was a puppet that's why he stayed so long. Like him or not Evans wasn't it cost us but he kept us in the championship & we'd like to be in the same position he left us in season 24/25 now.

Warney would work within the the chairman's budget where Evans would exceed it. That's when we should have kicked on 10 years ago but the Rotherham public didn't back the club enough to increase the capacity of the ground.
