It has been suggested to me this morning that following Phil Smith's report to the board, and the search for new financial backers the issue in respect of the new manager is as follows:

Tony/Richard have agreed to bring in an experienced football person to run the club and have appointed Steve McLaren as Director of Football/Football operations. He will be responsible for all day to day Football activities including the appointment of a new manager and coach.

This was only agreed at a meeting last week and the contract is being dealt with by the legal people.

Until the contract is in place the new manager and coach cannot be appointed as this is now the responsibility of the new D of F.

This is still expected to be Lee Clark and Peter Leven but until McLaren is in place they cannot be officially appointed.

An announcement will be made as soon as possible, including new board appointments.

The guy who has told me this is generally reliable but as he said to me himself, this is football and things can change at the last minute.

It would make sense if this was the case, and after everything that has happened, the idea of an experienced football person leading the football direction of the club would be a very positive development.

I was wondering if any potential takeover was/is causing the delay (eg not our man and relieved of duties).
      However PR's scenario seems plausible.

Fingers crossed it gets sorted one way or the other ASAP

This interprets to me that the StewartÂ’s intend retaining control. WonÂ’t go down well with the vast majority of of supporters.

I keep saying it , won?t make a bit of difference if the present owners are in charge.

If this is the case, why can't the club come out and tell us in a statement that this is what is happening. Instead of the silence , which is happening,

What he said, this is going to be crucial season in the club's recent history, we really need to be making moves for new players now.
Pretty much what Clark has been saying.

I would suggest this is a good thing. We?ve seen how long negotiations can take around bringing investment into a club. Any club. We simply CANNOT afford to wait for something like that to be settled before we make any moves. It would doom us for certain IMO.

Therefore HPRM?s posted scenario is probably my preferred option of the likely alternatives.

Have you ever got one right? So we get McLaren then what with Douglas & Scott latter who fked it up season just gone along with Hamshaw. Any manager worth his salt will want to be his own man working under nobody have more control over recruitment.

I believe that has a lot of credibility,Who's to know that we haven't already set a list of who we want and who we let go.We may well have appointed both a DOF and manager. What I don't want to see is the same old incompetent set up at Board level and if the Swiss deal doesn't go through we are a sinking ship as a club which is clueless.

We are just waiting and hoping an ex-players team gets knocked out of the play offs.

If we have the same incompetent board at the helm, it makes no difference at all, who comes in as manager. This badly run club has reached new lows in the opinion of most fans and they will not be conned again this time.A change of ownership is the only way and we all hope Phil Smith can get this done for the good of the club and its fans
