  • Will we miss out on Lee Clark?

Rumour is Hartlepool are interested in Lee Clark becoming their manager.
It's only a rumour of course but Hartlepool would be closer to home for him.
Be a shame if we missed out because we can't get our act together.
It seems to me the club will have to pull a rabbit out of a hat to save a new season that hasn't even started yet.

If the rumours about a potential complete takeover of the club are true I guess we have to assume that the consortium have their own ideas about who the manager should be.
That may or may not be Lee Clark but, either way, we have to hope the situation will be resolved without much more delay or we'll be behind the 8 ball from the very start.

            Huddersfield sacked him in 2012.

Lee said the right stuff,is he any good ? No idea, but he`s got a start on anybody else at the minute as he knows the club, right now we need to get cracking on the new season otherwise any new owners/investers will chucking money at a non league club.
Give him the job for a year with McC helping "Upstairs",IF we end up with new owners then they can get their own fella in if Clark is sheeite.

I suspect that no manager appointed because of the new investors wanting their own man and having an empty managerial seat could be part of any deal.

Pete O'Rourke saying on X that he understands Clark has now taken the Hartlepool job so that will probably be confirmed shortly.
Maybe Paul Douglas will now have the decency to tell us why the club have handled this situation so badly.
                  I won't hold my breath.

I cant escape the nagging feeling that the club had the means of a successful rebirth within its grasp and has thrown it away. Just the latest in a a series of calamitous choices over the last few years.

I hope the appointment of McLaren as sporting director really works out. It has to. I hope he identifies a top class upcoming manger who sees the problems and can fix them, I really do. But that feeling of letting Clark go only to appoint a (as yet unknown) manager that will also be sacked within a year won?t go away.

Had something back of my mind mate that he had been boss before, I was too idle to check.
Could he go back to Huddersfield Town, like Stendel gone back to Barnsley FC.

Huddersfield was the only time he had any decent stats, if we were up for a manager with these stats no one would want Clark here

I agree with the point you're making, Clark has hardly had a stellar career in management, but stats only tell half the story. To an outsider, his stats at Rotherham are appalling but we know the reasons behind that.

After Hamshaw, LC was a breath of fresh air. We got honesty from him and passion, he seemed hungry for success. He talked about bringing in players who could play Saturday, Tuesday, Saturday and I was looking forward to seeing those types of players represent this football club next season. Who knows, he may have been an abject failure, I guess we'll never know.

My biggest fear now is that the investors melt away, SM turns the job down and we end up with Les fecking Payne as manager!

Around this time last year Paul Douglas was called incompetent as we hadn't already tied Matt Hamshaw down to a long term deal and we were in danger of a bigger club swooping in and stealing our prized asset from under our nose

It's definitely not going to be Clark as recently confirmed by an article in the Advertiser.
Hopefully the next steps will be announced without any more delay!
