OT FA Cup

Been to see Bury play Stalybridbe Celtic in the aFA Cup this evening. SC won and made me think the only time in my life I've seen them before was when they beat the Millers in the FA Cup in the early/mid seventies. Anyone else remember that game?

I saw both games in 1972 when we played Bury in the FA Cup (a 1-1 draw at Gigg Lane & a 2-1 win in the replay at Millmoor) but I have been following the Millers for 60 years and don?t ever recall us playing Stalybridge Celtic in a competitive game never mind the FA Cup.

A little known fact is that Stalybridge Celtic were in the Football League between 1921-23 and in that period they played Rotherham County twice, each game being won by the home team. 2-0 at Staylybridge & 3-0 at Rotherham.

I can?t remember playing them, we have had a few ex millers play for them.We lost to Stafford Rangers in the 70s in the FA Cup.
