I was actually thinking this morning that because we have a DOF now, this will put off some people,as most managers in the lower leagues have pretty much total control over what happens on the football side, and that won`t be the case with us now.
Obviously these roles are very common the further up the food chain you go,but are still quite rare at our level,I can see a scenario soon where McC will be the manager as well just so we can start the season, but keep looking for someone to be head coach.

It is a mess, especially as player recruitment will be near impossible in our managerless/coachless state. In fact I'd go as far to say any player who agrees to come to RUFC at the moment is coming here for the wrong reasons because nobody in their right mind or with the right intentions would accept a job under such circumstances.

Wood by the end of the week. It's seemed the likeliest outcome for a few weeks, may as well get him in the seat now and get things moving.

                • This statement in Paul Davis's article made me laugh:

"New head of football Steve McClaren is seeking to appoint a head coach to work under him and he is among the people at the club who, after meetings with Sadler, don't regard the former Rotherham full-back as the right fit."

I think it's more likely that Sadler thought the "people at the club" weren't the "right fit" for him and who could blame him.
McClaren said the club was a mess and the extent of it is being laid bare by the day.

I'd imagine that if the absence of a head coach rattles on for too long, McClaren may decide that he, himself, is no longer the 'right fit', to save any lasting embarrassment.

I think that's getting more likely by the day Ulley.
He was appointed to sort out the football side of things but the situation has got infinitely worse, maybe through no fault of his own.

                      • At this point, let us ponder something. It was said many times that SM has total control of the football side, so anyone else should not be putting off or hindering anyone coming in. So the timeframe as of now, staff levels, budget set, transfers, even working with SM can only be the issues.

Or, there is not a total delegation to SM….which the report points to. Either he has total control or not.

.....but Tony Stewart has to sign it off.
                          Therein lies the problem ☹️

Yes it rather is, is it not. After all the baloney about SM being the man in charge. I do not think many of us swallowed it.

Possibly the others backed him up? I mean I would not have fancied coming in and finding out things and it all coming down my shoulders.

It is an interesting point, I wonder how many thought he would get autonomy? I mean, an autocrat appointing a sub one? Does sound a little out of character.

                            • I didn't think that TS could surround himself with any people worse than the so called executive management he had but looks like I was wrong, wow SM is making us look a bigger joke than we already did. 20 quid on us being relegated is my bet today and I will place that later. SM started with his results in October crap and now this, unbelievable. The reason why TS and SM are mates is it is two huge egos living on past glories. Surely nobody sane can defend this shambles, it gets worse by the week.

                              • Sorry I forgot a point.
I think our club is nothing more than a toy for SM to play with, to try his own ideas on us without any real personal consequences to himself. Two coaches have listened to his ideas and plans and said, no thanks not for me. Do not underestimate what that is telling us and what it is telling the wider world of football, SM could be a huge liability for us.
