  • Powell to Salford

Salford (without a manager) are a more attractive proposition than what we are?

Something is seriously wrong, why have we not got a manager yet?

Why are we not even rumoured to be linked to any players - what in the hell is going on?

Agree with derbs. He's a good league 1 player who could very easy play a key role in a league 1 promotion side with good coaching and in a good team

We didn't lose out to Woking though did we. Ayres chose them because he knows that we can't guarantee him a regular start.

As for Powell to Salford, there's absolutely no credible source to the rumour unless the OP has read a different article to the one I read.

I disagree with you on the Woking situation, in that he chose them over us, all players have reasons why they move.
My main response was to defend Powell as in my opinion he was a decent player and did well for us. If he ends up at a L2 club and we lose out on him I do not think that makes us look good. Remember he left for nothing, did we enter contract discussions with him last summer when he had just completed some of the best L1 stats for a midfielder in a team that finishes in the bottom half? Perhaps we did I do not know, but as far as I recall there was no mention of it in any press discussions about player contracts. In my opinion it was criminal that we let ourselves get in a position where he could walk away for NOTHING.
I am sorry if you think I am being harsh, at the moment I see nothing to be positive about and I am convinced that SM is purely there to deflect criticism away from the Stewarts if things go belly up. Being we have SM who appears to think it is ok to start the season in October when so many football analysts and experts say that a full pre-season is crucial, I hold out little hope at the moment. By the way I have renewed my 3 season tickets so I believe I am entitled to express my opinion and voice my concerns.

Bit of a misquote there. SM actually said the likes of oct nov would be when things come together etc. the way things are that will turn out to be accurate. Now whether that be a good, bad, or indifferent state of things remains to be seen. But any effect could take even longer. It cannot be shorter.

If things are being done, then the power is most definitely being kept dry. And no links and talks news is not a good sign.

I think SM talks a load of bullsh….

Maybe he didn't have a good season but the season before he was top six in assists. We obviously wanted to keep him by offering him a contract, however to be outbid in wages by a club that struggles to get two thousand fans is totally embarrassing.I worry for this club with this owner still in charge.

Powell was a decent league one player, nothing more, nothing less,so logic would say a very good 4th division player,we shall see.
                        Didn't we offer him a deal ?
Maybe Salford (if true),offered a better deal, didn't they have money at one time ?
Anyway, just another player added to the shopping list for the new manager, he's going to be a busy bee.

I think that because players don't stick around long enough to build a rapport with the fans is one of the main reasons football doesn't feels the same anymore.

                            (IF TRUE....)
One of our better players from the last two seasons leaves, and the response on here is about the same as he's had from the stands. We don't back our players well at all. Always plenty of detractors, never a shortage of people complaining, always a comparison to yesteryear (and even if the players match up statistically, the moaning continues), and always easy to find someone who'll blame the board and management for their part in the mess we're in.

Amazingly, not every player at L1 and L2 level will run through walls, consistently deliver pinpoint crosses, be fit for 46 games a season, chase lost causes, smash opposing players into the stands, and counter attack like their life depends on it. Applying the sort of insane benchmarks I've seen around here is the reason nobody will ever be good enough. Even Warne with three promotions gets sh** because with the 4 quid he had to spend in the second tier he failed twice.

If you were a footballer and had options, would you seriously think being at our club would be a healthy decision?

Trouble with Powell was he didn't the game for a wide player. Pringle wasn't quick but could make room to get a cross in.
