  • Thoughts on the Wigan game.

    Dawson
    Rafferty Raggett Jules
    Hall Gore Yearwood Powell Martha
    Sherif Hugill

Shame we couldn't get a new CB in for this game especially now Lenny is out for a few weeks. Hopefully Raggett can stay fit but I won't hold my breath.

I'm going for a hard fought 1-1 draw with Sherif the scorer.

Maybe back to 442,given the lack of CB's,hopefully now the Sheriff is in town, things might get a bit arresting.

I'd have Hall central midfield for Yearwood. Kaleta right wing back. McGuckin for Hugill.

Sherif is going to be too much to handle.
An optimistic 2-1 to the Millers.
Supporters will soon forget about Hugill once he leaves the club after being totally eclipsed by the rising star, Sherif.

We rarely beat Wigan so a draw is likely but I can see us losing the game. We have to start with a solid experienced back four of James, Jules, raggett and Rafferty then two sitting midfielders to make us difficult to play through. So a 4-2-3-1 might allow us to keep a cleansheet and nab a goal. MH won't do this and if he doesn't start the lawman up front it will be a crime, we can't start another game with hugill up there.

Tend to agree with this though heay play 1 sitting midfielder and play both hugill and sherif

Been our wide players can't have seen them before we signed them Hall Kaleta Martha can we send them back bring nothing to the side. McWilliams did when he got on for Kelly 2nd half. Won't give McGuckin a chance but will above.

Far better second half & a shame we couldn?t hold on but could have been worse in injury time.
I hate playing Wigan. Always irritate me for some reason.
The two new forwards looked good in the second half and that should be how we start up front at Barnsley.

Our one defender had a hand in both their goals.

I think Hugill should be released. Whatever he had in the past isn?t there any more. Kelly is another one who should go. Also we need a couple of older heads to calm it down a little, and an experienced centre half. I did like McWilliams when he came on.
I?d have taken a point before the game knowing our record against them so we move on.

You have to laugh this has got to be up there with on of his worst ever posts. Anyway back to the game.

First half we started brightly but the formation we played did not work and Wigan dominated, we played with two sitters, Powell and Kelly with Gore as a 10. We had no press and Wigan were able to play out from the back easily and push our wing backs back. Gore was isolated chasing shadows and our only outball was a long ball to Hugill who won nothing.

The difference in the second half was that we only had Powell sitting and used McWilliams in more of of an '8' role supporting Gore and we were able to press them higher up the pitch stop them playing get our wing backs into the game and with a more mobile centre forward we caused them all sorts of problems and actually played football..

That's the best half of football I have seen for a while from Rotherham and is very encouraging. We need a few players back from injury and we will be fine.

Not Martha he's never a wide left player or a wing back there. Hall must be a right back cause he's same on the right plus Rafferty I'd play there anyday. Kaleta on right not left possibly.

You really are a first class Bell! Denzil Hall is 10 times the player your love child McGukin will ever be. The same goes for Martha and Kaleta. I'm starting to think you're either Mcgukins Agent or his Dad the way you wax lyrical about a player you saw in a friendly about 2 or 3 seasons ago, while we're at it let's bring the world class Julian Lamy back!

Give McGuckin same chance that's all I ask. Hall he can cover right back but he's clueless getting forward. Martha I didn't like look of him before we signed him not seen anything to change my mind too lightweight.

Where did you see him before we signed him?

On u tube could see then he wasn't a wide left player. Was mostly cutting inside on the right.
