  • Is TS totally to blame?

I’m not defending all his decisions before I get abuse. 😃
We wanted a director of football we have been asking for it. We’ve got it. Isn’t the problem that SM has so far failed to deliver. TS has admitted that we need a football man with knowledge involved we all agreed generally. Personally I think SM is as much responsible for this mess.it seems from the outside a hashed together plan. The communication from the club is poor. TS said SM was handling all football matters moving forward so is the issue SM ? Like I said not defending TS just think SM is at the forefront of this.

In answer to your question Yak, no. TS is not entirely to blame, although he isn't entirely blameless of course. Just imagine how much further we'd be down the line if we still had Lee Clark in situ.

We have a Head Of Football making the football decisions in probably the most important pre season most of us can remember and on the face of it, this has been royally ****ed up - so you can understand people becoming agitated. All we can hope is that SM and Rob Scott have made good progress in terms of players we want to bring in, so that the new Head Coach can hit the ground running.

My opinion is that the owner is to blame, he?s captain of the ship and the buck stops with him .

Yes TS is totally to blame.
He admitted he knew nothing about football when he first saved the club yet, despite that, he failed to appoint anyone to have overall responsibility for all football matters.
Then, after a sustained period of decline culminating in relegation to the bottom tier, he decides to appoint his friend of 10 years who just happened to be an unsuccessful former manager of England.
This was nothing more than a vanity project on steroids but it did provide a decent photo opportunity for a chairman looking to boost season ticket sales.
Quite why any of our supporters thought this appointment was a good move is baffling. Yes we needed a Director of Football but it should have been someone who knows his way around the EFL and with specific objectives to sort out the obvious mess the club is in.
Instead we have a "big name" with no contract who can just leave when he's had enough. That time may not be too far away given his failure to secure the services of even the most underwhelming candidates for the Head Coach role.
So yes, TS is to blame. He has overseen this shambles and is hiding away somewhere while things go from bad to worse.

          No. Not completely.
I've a long held belief that the right person to run a business might not be the right person to run that same business at a different time. Sometimes because the business grows beyond their abilities and stutters, sometimes because times change and they're not able to change with them, and they're not the only reasons.
Picking at those two, TS is (IMHO) ill-equipped to run a Championship club, and has proven so. He's also proving to be less well suited to 2026 football. However, he is to some extent able to admit he needs help and that changes are necessary, but my fear is that behind that is a man who will never fully empower others to do things better.
All his fault, no, but he is the root cause of many of the problems we have today, directly or by virtue of his leadership style.

TS is to blame to a point yes he’s made poor decisions yes. However MH, SE as 2 examples failed in their roles no doubt. S McLaren is under pressure now and ultimately TS is the main man so has to accept responsibility. He has to take the blame but other people have failed in their roles massively.

                Tony Stewart.
Let Steve Evans waste the budget.
Employed Hamshaw the worst manager in our history.
Let Lee Clark walk away without a plan.
Employed Steve in this role that’s clearly not achieving anything currently.
that’s just off the top of my head do Yes he’s to blame.

TS appointed those failures Pocket and he always disappears when things don't go well.
He's not someone you'd want in the trenches with you.

Agree pal and he’s made plenty of mistakes. I guess hes also done what a lot of supporters asked for and not all has worked out. His biggest mistake was not backing Warne.

He was our saviour but made many a mistake. The place were in now is down to him and his no doubt stubborn mentality.

i wish him well and thank him like all of us but clubs at a real low at present and better he should let iot go.

McClaren I suspect may be seeing the light and close to going.

                      Dire predicament

No he isn’t, but he is accountable. He surrounds himself with poor people and gets what we are seeing. His legacy has gone for me.

Unless it's related to a sum of money I'm not sure a legacy can actually be gone. TS's is probably that he rescued the club and that he moved us from Millmoor to NYS and that will always remain intact. Whether through aging or simply being worn down by life events over the past 5 years his stewardship of the club and decision making has certainly fallen into question.

Hindsight is wonderful thing, obviously he has made mistakes, show me a chairman who hasn`t,but he saved our club, got us from under the Booths and got us in an amazing stadium than no one would have ever dreamed for.
It`s time for new blood at the club, and until recently it looked like things were moving, but it seems TS still wants this gig, which is dissapointing,we really need to stop the rot this season, and build back up again, but this will take time,we have been spoilt in the recent past,2 promotions under Evo,and the wonderful rollercoaster Warne era,I`ve a feeling our next moves will be a lot slower.
I was excited, still am really with McC being at the club, but it really is an unknown situation for us,it would be for most teams at our level, and I feel that having a DOF is actually doing us more harm than good at the minute, simply because almost all clubs in the bottom 2 divisions just have a manager to all the football stuff, and to find someone who wants to work with someone else "Above" him is maybe not that an attractive proposition.
I think in the long term having someone like an ex England manager at the club can only be a positive, but right now it doesn`t feel like it.

What bothers me most was T/S had two big warnings from Kenny Jackett & Neil Warnock years ago & did nothing,Ive always wondered why.
