Out of curiosity, how do you all tackle wordle? I have a set word I use every time to start with that has 4 vowels in it as there are almost always at least one vowel and sometimes 2 in a 5 letter word.
If i only get one letter correct on my first go I pick another word for my 2nd go that incorporates the 5th vowel and go from there. If I get 2 letters, any colour, on my first go then I try and fit a word in using those 2 letters and take it from there UTM
I change my approach and starting word every day and usually include 2 vowels that weren't in the previous day's solution. Any success on my first guess (yellows or greens) I always incorporate into my 2nd guess and continue that strategy through to my 3rd guess. If after 3 guesses it looks like the answer is going to have many possible solutions e.g. the infamous SHAKE, SHAME, SHADE, SHARE.....I start to consider whether I need to burn my 4th guess to secure at least a 6 and keep my streak alive.
Today on guess 1 I got the 2nd and last letter green and given that had a hunch that the word was going to be CVVCC. My 2nd guess confirmed my hunch when I got xGGxG and for the 3rd guess the actual word ended up being the one I liked most as I ran through the remaining permutations.
BOOZE was the hardest word in the last week with a 4.74 average (4.2 on MM) and THEME the easiest with a 3.84 average (3.5 on MM). Looks like the average MM poster is of above average Wordling intelligence!
4 for me. Well done Ronners and Bramley with the 2s.
Ive just started using TALON as my first word since the letters in it are statistically the most used across all the Wordl answers since it began. I will probably follow some other fad in a weeks time...
I've stopped using starter words with three or four vowels (BEAUT, ADIEU and so on) since they may give the right vowel for the word but restrict the availability of the all important consonants which give you a clue where the word is going.

Thanks for that CAM/CT i might just try out both of your ways in the coming weeks and see where it gets me. UTM
