Could have been a 3 or a 4 just kept picking the wrong letter !

Also lost all data as have had to re-set everything following a hack so I'm on 100% success rate according to the Stats

After 2 guesses I had it down to 4 possibilities and was contemplating burning a guess to identify one letter. However, couldn't some up with a word that included the 4 letters I needed so decided that the worse I could do was 6. Luckily my first guess was right.

4 today, 3 yesterday. I have realised the number of attempts doesn't tell the whole story. Today in 4 took 4 minutes. Yesterday to get from 2 to 3 took me about 20 minutes before I saw the light. Mental fragility perhaps but I know that's not a popular concept on MM.

Not played it for a few weeks so to get a 3 was good. A lot rides on your first word, I got 3/5 so it wasn’t hard after that.

That's true. Today I opened with 4y (first time I think I've ever had 4y at any point in any game) and it still took me close to 10 minutes to noodle the possibilities and choose the most likely of at least 3 words for my 2nd attempt. Luckily I chose wisely.
