Well done Bramley that is a really good 3

Kudos to Bramley for the 3 and commiserations to CAM. I had a refreshing short sleep after the 4.30am - 6.30 am shift watching the Millers victory and THEN tackled the Wordl which was a prudent move!
Glad you liked the 'Thoughtful' CT because I loved your 'Prudent' . UTM

        Thanks.

So here's the conundrum I faced as I know the MM Wordlers love a conundrum.

After 4 guesses, although I only had 2g (xATxx) due to the letters I'd used/had left I was pretty certain it was xATCH. The problem I had was I had C, H, W and B all as first letter options. Can anyone devise a 5th guess that would have guaranteed success as obviously I couldn't (and hitting and hoping with a C, although guaranteed success is not the answer I'm looking for )

Ok CAM I had to google this to find a word that on your 5th go would have guaranteed success for the 6th go, and the word is HOWBE (an alternative form of HOWBEIT) and a word I dont think any of us would have known let alone considered it.
With HOWBE if the H is green you would know H is the first letter as well (HATCH) but if the H is yellow then it isn't the first so eliminates it. If the W or B is yellow then that would have to be the first letter (WATCH, BATCH) however if the H is yellow and the W and B are both grey then the C has to be the first letter (CATCH) piece of cake 😂 UTM

Exactly the strategy I followed Ronners but just couldn't think of a 5 letter word beginning with either C or H that also included W and B. I think I may have considered HOWBY but obviously not a word. Close but no cigar

                    • Very annoying 6. Got last 3 letters as green on 3rd word and lots of combos available. Instead of burning a word, I went for gold. Didn't work.

                      • It's a funny old game as someone once said. Couldn't buy a guess yesterday and ended in fail. A good starting word, intuition and a lucky choice of the key letter today and the result is a 2.

                        • Congrats, CAM. It’s so satisfying when the letters all flip green so early on!

I was about to preen with my 3 but shall quietly shift away from the limelight!
