  • It seems to be all gloom and doom at minute but for me there’s no earthly reason why Rafferty and James can’t play as wing backs their strength is their crosses, Paul Davies said last week James was second as regards speed so getting up and down isn’t a problem, age doesn’t seem to matter to these 2 and along with Powell were Evans best signings, it’s the centre half positions that worry me even if Barker arrives I’d suggest we still need another centre half maybe 2 (don’t know what’s happening with Raggett)
Wonder if another centre forward might come in too now JCH gone would like to see a big lad come in in the Smith mould

Tell you why Rafferty he's a good defender but getting forward it's not his game. James isn't strong enough to play wing back covering all the left side he'd be out on his feet.

We are on a roll today, James has played most of his career as a left wing back or on the left hand side of midfield, Rafferty is just as comfortable as the right sided defender in a 3 so why would we want to get rid of them?

James could certainly play wing back and delivers excellent crosses when he gets forward.
The key to this is going to be about organisation with midfielders dropping in to cover when the full backs get forward.
I've more confidence that MH will be able to sort that out than I would have had if Evans was in charge.

That was back then not now James 32 in November only at left back next season. Rafferty agree can play on the right of a back 3.

            • The only reason jams and Rafferty can't play wing back (ATM) is we don't have CB... Probably 3 month before Raggett is fit enough to play. Young Duncan maybe if he's as good as we were told by Evans. Jules we will be lucky to get 30 games out of him.
Mentioned other day he could play Rafferty, Jules and James as a back 3 which I believe he did first half Vs parkgate. This still means we don't have any wingbacks

              • We need 3 CBs and cover at RB and LB. We still haven't replaced Bramall. Surely we're not going into a new season with only 2 recognised full backs. At CB we've only got one fit senior pro at the club, the rest either injured or sold.

It's the same further up the pitch. Wilks, JCH, Green, Sibley, Mpanzu are all gone. Are we hoping that the likes of McGuckin, Hatton, Holmes and Kayode come good?

The squad needs major surgery, we're 8 players short in my opinion unless someone is going to tell me some of the youngsters are good enough to step up.

You need a bloody good midfield to play a back 3, 3-5-2 if we get Gore but I think the chance of that?s long gone.

                          • Dundee United were said to be interested in Odoffin.
EFL Championship clubs were thought to be interested, but no names coming up.

                            • Hope there's something in this Odoffin rumour he was the main man last season. If not why post it?

The story doing the rounds is that Odoffin was going to S6, clearly that can't now happen, as I say it's only a rumout not something that I have heard from anyone credible and it may not be true..
