  • Minto was out of breath before the halfway line, what happened next was pretty irrelevant

    • People keep telling me Jerry Yates is coming back but if Swansea are asking for ?1 million and his wages are reported to be over ?11k per week i can't imagine that's a likely signing.

Would be an interesting signing - and something of a statement at this level. Can?t see it

Don't we get a discount for 'one of our own'?

          • Need a big forward for Nombe or even Hugill to feed off.

Hope we see McGuckin in the carabao cup. Sheff U friendly my magic eye was activated once more by James Clarke just warming up on the touchline. Looked an athlete. On for Jules last week at Accrington advertiser report says might turn to be the pick of the young crop. Has physical stature & can play.

Not sure you could call them strikers on last years return !Langstaff one goal and Keane 3, both scored goals previously ! stalk contrast between the two, one is 6’ 2” and 32 yrs old the other 5’ 10” and 28 ! Would need two different set ups to fit either one in ?

                      • Average age of the 8 permanent signings is under 23. Slightly lower still if you count Gore as well. I like the approach, I (think I) get why TS has gone along with it, and I think it should be consistent. Forget older strikers who've 'proven' they can score goals. Anyone with a good record is off the table, anyone with a middling return is a huge gamble, anyone who's a bit older is costly - back the process, and get a younger man up there. We've gambled on the likes of Hugill, JCH, Eaves, etc and it's showed that experience and 'proven track records' mean very little. Dip into the Dutch, Belgian, French leagues and grab someone who was part of a good youth system but hasn't jumped straight up to the first team.

If my suspicion is right about why we're backing MH now with some of these signings, it's that we're left with a saleable asset even if they don't fit with us, rather than a 32/33 year old who we're paying double wages for and can't unload. The gamble on the pitch is very similar whichever route we take, but off the pitch it makes more sense to stick with what we've done the past few weeks.

                          • Got to see if it works yet? Where's heart of the side? Proven reliable keeper. Fit commanding centre back. Midfield general. Presence up front.

You want quite a lot there. Maybe you could help Tony out with one of these? I'm it should it help tick a couple of these off your list.
