  • Chris Wilder 's position is under review

The Sheffield United board are reviewing Chris Wilder's position as head coach as they plan for next season.

The Blades missed out on promotion to the Premier League after losing the play-off final to Sunderland at Wembley.

These discussions include the possibility of sacking Wilder - but no decision has been made at this stage.

There is a split across the Sheffield United board about which direction to take, with some members backing Wilder and others feeling a change should be made.

An extensive review has been in place since the season finished, and it is expected that in the coming days the club's new owners will make decisions on what their strategy will be for the summer with regard to recruitment and Wilder?s position at the club.

Sounds like the new investing Yanks who, have only just completed a take over, aren't happy at losing out on mega millions.

Personally I thought Wilder did an amazing job at The Lane last season and they'd be foolish to dismiss him so early. To finish on a massive 90 points and still not get automatic promotion was a feat in itself. Yes they bottled it on three games they should have won on paper while they were sitting at the top but, it's not always the Manager's fault and the players have to take some blame for that but, they still get paid so screw whoever is managaing them and if they get the sack.

They have got one Prem class player for me, Gustavo Hamer 27yrs in his prime. The Three clubs that have come down from the Prem I would expect 2 of the 3 to go straight back up.So it?s not going to be easy for the Blades they have got up buy some top class players.

He's potentially Premier League class Lol but only for 70 minutes because that's when he usually runs out of steam and has to be substituted.
Whoever he goes to next will have to put a fair bit of work into improving his fitness.

3rd in league, 92 points. Losing finalist in play-off.

Apparently Wilder is too 'old-fashioned' for the new owners, who are looking to use AI to select possible players.

                You couldn't make it up.

The meeting was on Monday and Chris Wilder is abroad on holiday.

This story came from social media posts and amateur Sheffield press. Probably written by CHATGPT

They were definitely wrong on this occasion. SKY were clearly sucked in by the same rumour.
