Not sure about league one but there's stats for.the prem league.Originally posted by mygiddypant View PostAre you sure that we have an above average number of hammy injuries?
There's 9 hamstring injuries (first team players) from all 20 premier league teams.
The most 1 team has is Brentford with 2 players

If you check out the stats for notts forest they had 11 players injured over the whole of last season.
Is this luck.
Then take a look at the injurys wolves had when nuno was the manager. Again very low figures.
It's all down to playing style and the strain it puts on the body's...
Teams who are good footballing sides and defend the last 3rd rather than press hard have less injurys.

As with all things,I'd like to see some facts on the number of injuries we have compared to other teams before blaming anyone or anything.
We do seem to have a lot of injuries so far,but is any worse than the last 4 or 5 seasons ?
We are probably training the players harder than last season, but it was needed, and it's probably not harder than it was under Warne.

I did question this myself, but then had a bit of a think back. Other teams don't come here and get crippled by injury and we've picked multiple injuries this season up away from home.Originally posted by Millerman_II View PostCould it be related to the SISGrass hybrid turf we added at NYS?
I personally believe its a culmination of improper recovery, playing through strains and a bit of bad luck.
The training ground has also got a question mark, but the pitches look to be of a great standard, which makes me wonder whether it's something we're lacking in the recovery department. Are the players being pushed too far in training? Possibly, but we'll never know for definite. Something tells me that they're being put through a tough week, not getting the proper recovery and then being played on a weekend where things are faster and harder, meaning already tired muscles are being overworked.
MH publicly told everyone that the players were running 40-50km in pre season + football and gym work. 40-50km a week is a good amount of mileage on its own and would require proper recovery in itself, add the football and gym work in there and there's no wonder players are knackered. Have a look at Ross Burbeary's strava, the staff are covering more than 40km a week, so what are the players doing?

It’s all rather obvious. Mismatch of players physiques, training, capabilities, stresses within a game which are all unsuitable.
One or two many old crocs who are totally unfit and unsuitable to what is being required.
It is not rocket science.
One close look at Katerla shows he must well overweight.
Players coming here without a proper preseason.
Square pegs in round holes.
It has been going on a long time.

No not overreacting at all, the injury situation at RUFC is a major crisis that could end up with us relegated. Another one down now the psychological impact on the squad will be huge, players will become reluctant to play their normal game worried about being injured, that is when more injuries can occur. You say MH will sort it out, I hope he does all I am saying is it makes sense to have some expert independent input to assess the situation, because marking your own homework isn?t usually beneficial. We have so many injuries when players become fit we will and have played them too early making it worse, we are now reacting and rushing, Raggett a prime example.Originally posted by mygiddypant View PostAren't you over-reacting?
Training may well be intense and if that is the problem wouldn't most/some of the injuries happen then? The match situation is less intense overall, but with moments of intensity, and it looks (to me) that that is when the injuries are happening.
Someone with expertise in this area would probably be able to explain why this is happening.
I don't think Hammy/the management have been slow to look into this. If the injuries are happening in game time, one or two wouldn't necessarily alert you to training being a possible explanation.
Be patient, and trust them to sort it out.
God help us if we lose Powell, James or Rafferty.

Some good points raised in this thread.
A Fine line between exercise / training for fitness and doing it to destruction.
Of course training as well as technical helps build team spirit, pretty much at the heart of all team games but each player is an individual and exercise regimes will not suit all the same.
