I recently watched an episode of the Virginian he appeared in as a young actor. He said he never wanted to do any TV, but as a struggling young actor, he needed a car to get to auditions. Fair play, RIP.

A very sad loss indeed. At work there are a very large group of GenZ and most of them had never heard of Steve mcQueen, paul Newman, robert redford and others, yet when i was a kid I knew all about stars from the 20s etc

Great actor, many memorable films, seemed like a decent human being ,although that isn't very popular on here !
Apparently he was quite good looking as well, great hair.

Watched butch Cassidy and the Sundance kid in Spalding on a fishing holiday..I was with my cousin ,we were both very young, 16 or 17..loved the holiday and loved the film..we could set our rods up in the hotel opposite the river Welland in the town centre..walk 20 yards and you were fishing..while we were in the pictures it chucked it down..we came out after the film when it brightened up and got fishing again..the rain had done us a favour, 40 lb of chub in two hours, right in the town centre..
