It sounds like he was a bit tired after getting back from his holidays ? Likewise his son the deputy chairman ? Oh also Rob Scott was also too busy to attend ! Very poor showing by the club and a slap down for the fans who bothered to turn out .

I doubt that the ones who were there had better things to do and didn?t want to go.

If thats the case then he only has one option and that is to sell to the highest bidder. Our situation is not far different from that with Sheffield Wednesday. We might not have the debts and our cashflow is obviously stable but we have no real assets and the same unwillingness or inability for the Chairman to invest. Thus, we are only moving backwards. TS has pulled a short-term master stroke in appointing MH. He knows the fans wont "kick-off" as quickly with him as with someone like SE because he is a "Rotherham Lad". But, I find it staggering that we havent repopulated the squad at this point to a more substantive level, even if that was with young inexperienced players.

I have also heard that we are in progressed discussions with Stockport about Nombe - perhaps our only saleable asset.

Thing is, NYS & the club are Tony Stewarts baby, he doesn't want to make it a orphan by pulling out, but he won't let anyone into the club to share responsibility for what he has achieved.

True at the minute but he?s cracking on a bit now so something has to give!

Been my team for over 60 yrs but this lack of anything positive doesn?t look good for new season.

I know we?re lucky in many ways but god it?s gloomy !!

TS saying next to nowt don?t help

To Paul Douglas saying that TS is a bit more open to outside investment.
This outside investment was needed when the club was in the championship, at the time the club was in a decent position in that league, be it when Paul Warne left the club.
The club then looked worth someone coming into the club to invest, & help TS financially keep the club in the championship.
But now after the last couple of seasons, a relegation, then last season the club was a total flop, after Steve Evans emptying the coffers, the club does not look a good proposition for a investor.
One good thing is the club is stable, as we are led to believe, but no money to get players in.
The club this season is carrying a wage bill that Steve Evans left us with, with JCH a flop last season, plus left with Hugill wage bill, by a previous manager.
Hopefully Hugill will do the business this season, that's if he gets the service.

Hugill isn't a target man. Nombe he's who plays off one.

MH says we're going to play with wing backs Rafferty James aren't. Powell he's not really a wide player. 2 signings needed there + 3 centre backs. Big forward also. Another midfielder that's minimal requirement before the season starts.

Not keen on the subliminal pressure being loaded on MH. 'Budget won't be as much as SE's but will be more than PW had'. Inferring that Warnie got us promoted with less so MH can have no excuses.

The problem is, MH has inherited a load of dross from good old SE and the wealth of clubs in League One is generally greater than during the Warnie era. So the playing field has changed.

The club needs a reality check. Under the current financial constraints we are, at best, a midtable outfit - that might suit many fans if it comes with 100% effort and a pride in the club. However, if there's a desire to chase promotion, outside investment is an absolute necessity.

From TS's perspective, his tenure is inevitably coming to an end and he needs to decide what is best for the town, the club and its fans. He's been a brilliant owner and he could establish an indelible place in Rotherham folklore if he was to plot the future ownership and direction of the club along the lines of a successful football club as opposed to a well run family business.

Agree Glenn, I think we need to stabilise in L1 and gradually build. Expect lower-mid table finish - anything else will be a bonus. Hopefully more entertainment in terms of how we play, but quite a few stronger set ups to contend with
