Good or bad management....

I thought it was pretty obvious he'd been taken off as he's coming back from injury and Hamshaw is managing his minutes rather than anything to do with his performance. He probably knew he'd be coming off before the game even started. None story as far as I'm concerned.Originally posted by the_idiotb_stardson View PostSubbing Lenny after their 2nd goal?

That may be the case, but I was calling for MH to sub him from soon after half time. Lenny struggled with the balls over the top all night and you'd think in any position, a player having a bad night would be called in in anticipation of further damage. Matt was too slow and too late for me.Originally posted by Masbroughstreet View PostI thought it was pretty obvious he'd been taken off as he's coming back from injury and Hamshaw is managing his minutes rather than anything to do with his performance. That's a fair point but I'd interpreted the opening post as being more about whether taking him off straight after the goal could affect his confidence.Originally posted by ragingpup View PostThat may be the case, but I was calling for MH to sub him from soon after half time. That may well have been the case. And yes, the manager has to weigh up the impact on a player's confidence vs the possible impact on the team. I think that players should understand (as most have been working under coaches and managers from very young age) that the team should come first and bad games happen. You would hope and want players, even younglings to be able to take that on the chin, and the manager to do the right thing for the team as opposed to protecting confidences. I think you might be right though.Originally posted by Masbroughstreet View PostThat's a fair point but I'd interpreted the opening post as being more about whether taking him off straight after the goal could affect his confidence.

But they had met but played badly. Both of those centre halves have had good games. If we had have someone like Holmes we would be having a different conversation.Originally posted by NorthWestCorner View PostStarting with two inexperienced CBs was a risk that failed to payoff and in fact nearly sunk us. It was like they?d never met each other before.

Good but should have been way earlier. Team before player every time. He's only a young lad and hopefully he will understand the fact he had a poor game last night.Originally posted by the_idiotb_stardson View PostSubbing Lenny after their 2nd goal?
On the plus side of praising him for some on the floor tackles he won, his passing after that was sometimes very poor as it fell more than once to the opposing player.
He'll learn from it and hopefully not repeat the same mistakes again.

Lenny will be a top player for us,but he is very inexperienced, and mistakes like that are inevitable, but hopefully he will learn quickly from it.
The perfect scenario would be someone experienced playing alongside him or Baptiste,Tom Holmes seems perfect for that,so hopefully that won't to too far away.
Zak Jules should fit that role, but this season he seems to have gone backwards a bit, hence why we had 2 young CBs on Thursday.

Jules might not have been brilliant so far this season Tlc, but I personally dont think he's been awful, and he absolutely should have started the Bradford game alongside either Agbaire or Baptiste IMO. I think that's fair, but MH didn't fancy that for some reason, if he sticks with a back 3 then all 3 fit CBs will get a game, hope that Holmes is back soon.Originally posted by Ronners View PostJules might not have been brilliant so far this season Tlc, but I personally dont think he's been awful, and he absolutely should have started the Bradford game alongside either Agbaire or Baptiste IMO.
