It certainly doesn't look like that photo now.
I remember going there many times in the 1960s/70s and I can see it seating 1800 in it's heyday. Even remember queuing up in the rain for hours outside, line looping around the car park, to see Snow White I think?
450K isn't to tart it up, it's to make it safe. It will probably take 5-10M to completely renovate into anything useable.Last edited by CAMiller; 06-07-2025, 03:17 PM.

I got in touch with Wetherspoons when the Mecca bingo hall packed it in,
putting it forward for a new Wetherspoons in Rotherham, be it they closed
Rhino's pub, leaving just Bluecoats in Rotherham.
Has we know another pub group took over the Rhino's, which then caught
fire from The Red Lion pub fire.
Wetherspoons looked at the empty Nat West Bank higher up from the
Mecca bingo, but seemed not to fit requirements.
The old Mecca bingo hall is quite a big place, with cooking facilities etc.

According to J D Wetherspoon's latest financial reports the company's total debt is ?1.07 Billion. A company?s total debt is the sum of all current and non-current debts. That?s probably why they weren?t interested in Mecca bingo hall.Originally posted by Ericsladkilnhurst View PostI got in touch with Wetherspoons when the Mecca bingo hall packed it in,

This one. I remember seeing The Wizard of Oz there, one Saturday afternoon in the mid 60s when I was about 5. Scared me to deathOriginally posted by parkgatewelfare View PostMuch preffered the old Regal cinema in Rawmarsh.
