Swansea v Derby, Tue 25 Nov, 19:45
Two tough games this week against in form teams, home to Derby and away to West Brom on Saturday.
Derby have been in excellent form winning five straight matches until last Saturday, where they slipped up at home 2-3 to Watford, a late penalty deciding matters.
Cabango and Tymon are available again after a one match suspension to boost the defence, which was cruelly exposed in a 3-0 defeat at Bristol on Saturday. Schoolboy defending for all three goals.
Our new leader Vitor Matos and his three man coaching team take over the reins on Monday morning. New brush sweeps clean, so O’Dea, Stearman, O’Leary and Margetson jobs are on the line. Let’s hope he can bring renewed impetus and vim to the players, who gave in so easily as he watched on from the stands in horror at Ashton Gate.
A massive job in hand for them, and JA are hoping they can make an immediate impact, new manager boost often works, initially at least.
Will our absent fans, who left in droves disappointed with ‘Sheehan’ football, come back for this one on a cold Tuesday night in November?
I doubt it but if Matos can start winning games with attractive football they will return.
The warning signs of what was to come were there in the pre-season friendlies, losing to lower league opposition and it just continued into the league matches. The driving force behind Sheehan at the end of last season, assistant head-coach Mark Fotheringham left in June.
Darren O’Dea replaced him and it was downhill thereafter.
Sheehan’s record this season was abysmal and his job became untenable
Pos19 P15 W4 D5 L6 F15 A19 Pts17, for a win percentage of just 26.67%.
See you there on Tuesday night!
