Done and Dusted

Well, that’s our season done and dusted. A 110 days until it starts all over again.

Our attention now turns to the Swans ‘Retained List’ and the upcoming ‘Summer Transfer Window’.

But fear not you soccer nuts, there is still football being played.

In between we have the following:

The EFL Play-Offs, Semi-Finals 8-15 May and the Final 23-25 May.
The UEFA Champions League Final 30 May in Budapest, Hungary.
The Europa League Final 20 May in Istanbul, Turkey.
The World Cup June 11 to July 19 in Canada/Mexico/USA.
The Carabao Cup Round One 7-9 August.
The EFL 2026-27 season - The Championship, League One and League Two will begin over the weekend of 14-16 August.

That’s plenty to be getting on with.
Not forgetting the FA Cup Final, Chelsea v Manchester City, Sat 16 May.
I think it’s on BBC One at 3pm.

So it will be Hull and Southampton who’ll fight it out at Wembley on Saturday 23 May to see who will play in the Premier League next season.
Maybe we’ll be in that position some day soon.

Southampton in deep trouble after training ground spying allegations at Middlesbrough before their play-off semi-final match.
If found guilty they could suffer a points deduction which would give Middlesbrough the chance to take their place at Wembley in the play-off final.

So Hull in 6th place win the play-offs after Southampton were expelled from competing after being caught spying on Middlesbrough.
Wrexham can feel hard done by as they were in 7th place and should have moved up to 6th place to fill the void.

I was amazed with Hull not conceding a goal in the play-off matches.
Why? Because they had conceded 66 goals this season, the most out of the top six teams, with only three other teams in the Championship conceding more goals. For example more than relegated Oxford with 59 goals conceded.
