    Swansea v Plymouth EFL/Carabao Cup Round 2 Tue 26 Aug 19:45
Plymouth Argyle are up next in the League Cup.
The Pilgrims were recently relegated from the Championship and are now struggling in League One with one win and four defeats so far. Their first win under new boss Tom Cleverley came with a 1-0 home victory over Steve Bruce's Blackpool on Saturday, winger Malachi Boateng the scorer in front of a 15,300 crowd.
There were rumours that Plymouth wanted Jay Fulton but his wages could be a stumbling block if he is allowed to leave.
They have lost the backbone of their team with centre-forward Ryan Hardie to Wrexham and centre-back Macksym Taloverov to Stoke amongst several others.
Swansea in the last round made seven changes from the previous league match so expect a similar selection on Tuesday to give the squad players a run out.

In the last round of the Carabao Cup Plymouth beat QPR 3-2 after being 0-2 down at half-time. QPR had made 11 changes, Plymouth 6 from their previous league game. Owen Oseni scored a brace for Plymouth.
After Tuesday’s cup match at Swansea, this Saturday Plymouth return to league action and ironically are again in South Wales to play table toppers Cardiff, another 300 mile round trip in store.

Sorinola came back to haunt us tonight, the set piece specialist was deadly and got the assist for their equaliser. Right until the penalty shoot out where his shot was saved by Fisher for us to go through.
      Pretty unimpressive display though.

League Cup Round 2 Tue 26 Aug 19:45

          Swansea 1 (Vipotnik 22’)- Plymouth (Wiredu 45’) 1
          (Swans win 5-3 on penalties)
Eight minutes added time and still neither side could score the winner. Both teams had chances in this end to end encounter but couldn’t put them away. Swans reject Matthew Sorinola was their best player with his accurate free-kicks and corners. He got the assist for their goal and cleared off the line at the end of the match to take it to penalties. Swans players didn’t miss, Sorinola’s shot was saved by Fisher, heartbreak for Argyle.

Question has got to be asked, why was one of our smallest players at 5’9” Widell marking 6’4” Wiredu at the far post, bit of a mismatch in height wasn’t it. Wiredu had scored in the previous round against QPR and was one to watch.
We looked wide open a times and gave Plymouth so many chances. We subbed Burgess for Cabango, then Casey got injured and midfielder Fulton had to drop back and cover the centre-back position.
Somehow we survived and got through to the next round but an unimpressive display from Swansea who looked disjointed and blunt up front.

Well boys, best part of that was the Vipotnik goal and the penalty shoot out.
Cullen, Key, Widell, Parker, Fulton stood out as the weak players in the side last night.
Huge gaps in the midfield as we either lumped it forward or tried to play out through the wings.
Wing-backs were too far forward leaving us exposed at the back.
Another poor show against lower league opposition with strange tactics plus four subs coming on at the same time didn’t help as we already looked disorganised without complicating things further.

…….and the third round draw is Swansea City v Nottingham Forest.
Another home tie and a PL team.
