  • Maja

Demonstrated some excellent touches. Clearly got some class, holds the ball up and able to see the right pass. Excellent and controlled lay off to Mulumby for his goal.
Maybe his time has come alongside Heggebo ?

I'm always amazed how quickly we go from down right depressed to seeing the bright side after one win....
Maja, while no doubt skillful is just to prone to injury. I wish it weren't so but alas that is the reality week in and week out. Heggebo looks like he is finding his feet in the Championship for sure. Strong lad.

I thought he was excellent Prando. Perhaps Mason is learning - you play with intent with more of an attacking threat you are on the front foot. Protect a one nil lead with one up front playing too deep it invites pressure.

Price for me should be given a rest! Start the team next week who played the second half!

Credit to Grant too who put in a shift plus and Heggebo!!!

As you say Prando, Maja showed what he is capable of second half. We were saying over H/T refreshments that Mason needed to change it. And he did to great effect.

I, like you Prando, would like to see Maja and Heggebo lead the front however, Mason seems to prefer one up front. Let’s hope, as Dubbag says on your previous thread, we pick up some more points in the next few games, albeit the next two are away.

Great day out and an excellent win.

In recent games Maja has still not looked fully fit after coming back from injury hence Mason isn't giving him 90 mins but yesterday showed that he does have quality.

Certainly agree with others that we are better with two strikers on the pitch and should continue to do so. Unless Price is doing something extraordinary in training, I don't get why Mason keeps starting him behind Heggebo. For me, it has to be Heggebo with Maja and if Maja tires and needs to be pulled let's give Dike his chance.

I don't think Dike has anything to offer the club at this stage in his career/contract. In the interest of both parties, he should move on at the first available opportunity. I know injuries aren't his fault but this is no longer a sport.....it's a business. Surely someone else can warm the bench besides Dike. He could pull his Gluteus Maximus there.

Agree with you Dubs completely. The two highest wage earners are Dike and Wallace and both are stealing a living. We can?t sell them as nobody would want them. Who would pay their 30K per week wages? Nobody!

Get rid at the end of this season!

I genuinely feel sorry for Dike given his injury woes and I'm sure he would rather be on the pitch playing than warming the bench to pick up his wages but my comment came from a purely footballing point of view. We are certainly better playing two strikers and with Price being pretty underwhelming I just think that Heggebo needs to play with Maja but that until he is better able to manage 90 we could see him being subbed for Dike to give him his chance. Given his injury history, we aren't likely to move Dike out in January, and certainly not for the money he is on or for what we would want so we may as well see what he can offer in the meantime.

The end of this season will be interesting in terms of who we let go for nothing as their contracts expire and who we decide to keep, even if lower wages can be negotiated. Almost certainly Wallace will go as will Dike and that leaves Maja and Grant. The problem is that if they go, we then have Mikey for one wing and Heggebo as a striker alongside Bany who continues to warm the bench. Yes, we have youngsters like Ollie Bostock but if everyone goes, it leaves the attacking line of the squad pretty thin and the question remains who would we be able to recruit. Doubtless the club have already identified certain players as targets but if Maja's form continues to improve, I can see him being kept on.

As for Grant, I like his energy and fight but his lack of assists and goals certainly don't justify his wages. I wouldn't be too unhappy to keep him on a lower wage but can't see that happening (although I can't see any other club offering him his current wage either)

Totally agree with you Omeg with Maja up front with Heggebo and Price needs dropping. I did feel sorry for Dike at first bit not anymore. If this was my business and personal cash the time for being sorry has gone as you have to be ruthless. No it's not Dike's fault but equally the business is not a charity for the player on the highest wage. For me Wallace and Dike need to be gone as I doubt whether anybody would buy them or pay such a huge wage.

Grant and Maja - interesting one! If we could get a good price for either in the January window i would let them go. We could no doubt find a much cheaper, younger and hungry player. The time for players stealing a living should now be in the past and we need more hungry young players to develop.

For me it's criminal that Mason does not give Bostock minutes as he does not have much to prove compared to Wallace or Junior who are both crap. In my view he's far superior. Goes back to again Arteta playing a 15 year old kids in the Champions League. Brave decisions......

Mason does not have the balls to play two up top or try our youngsters and Swansea for me was a one off. I am sure normal service will be resumed on Saturday as sadly I have zero faith in Mason.

Keep in mind Johnson was nearly out the door to S America and there were rumours around Grant preseason.
So both could be gone as well....just a thought. Youngsters have to be brought in to fill gaps and to progress them. Otherwise why else have them here.

If Mikey continues as he is, I think we should do as much as we can to keep hold of him. We may not get money for those that leave when their contact expires in June next year but we will at least significantly reduce our wage bill and be in a better financial situation than we were coming into this summer which dictated the sales of Palmer, Heggem and Fellows and nearly cost us Mikey.

I totally agree with you and Al about developing our younger players Dubs but also believe that it is good to hold onto some of our better ones who have become fan favourites for a reason.
