Israel are allowed in the contest but have the countries who have pulled out nothing better to do FFS. It’s OK though for Russian and Belarusian players to perform at Wimbledon whilst Putin bombs the s hit out of innocent civilians. Unlike the Hamas terrorists what did the Ukrainians do to deserve this?

Spain, Ireland, Slovenia and the Netherlands have all pulled out of next year's Eurovision contest - with some broadcasters yet to make statements. Perhaps their energy should be focused into paying the same percentage of GDP for ammo and aid like the Polish and the US for Ukraine!

With the absolute garbage Ireland has been turning over the recent years (borderline embarrassment) I only hope they stay out. Licence fee covers this stuff, which less and less people buy nowadays.
Spain is a useless tool of a country, so great, I hope more pull out.

Apparently, the competition was never about countries only being eligible if they were in geographical Europe but they had to be served by the European Broadcasting Area which extended into North Africa and Turkey. Never knew that before, though still don't know how Russia or Australia meet the criteria 😁

Anyhow, the songs have always been mostly rubbish which is why both Wogan and Norton so easily got away with their gentle ribbing. Aside from Abba I can't think of anyone who went on to any great career success out of winning the competition either (do not claim Bucks Fizz anyone &#128514 though I'm sure Dubs may point out the Eurovision successes of Johnny Logan..

No. Most just lived of the one hit wonders. Cause we had won it a load of times in the past, is the only reason I can think of for its viewing.

Come on Omeg 😂 - you forget boom bang a bang mentioned by Phil. Lulu was class and the title of that song brings her to mind in her younger days 😂

Absolute joke of a contest! It was OK years ago but for ages now you just get certain countries voting, not for the song, but for the country. Waste of time and money. Have not watched it for the last twenty or thirty years, perhaps even longer.

Ah, but Eurovision never made her Al, she just sang in it like Cliff and a few other established stars. In fact, she didn't initially want to do it and had to be persuaded by BBC bosses. She'd already had hits with Shout in 65 and To Sir With Love in 67. (I can be a mine of useless information sometimes )

Well you learn something new every day Omeg. Did like Lulu though as thought she had a cracking voice - loved To Sir With Love and think it was the duet with her ex Gibb singing Xmas Trees.

From the clips I’ve seen on the news, it seems to be more about the dance routines than the songs, I’d rather watch the grass grow.

But England?s chances of winning would always be better in this competition than in the WC? 😇😎

Ours of course also, we won?t even make it to the WC?
