  • Mason Lost the Fans

You only need to look on the many social media threads for yesterday’s game with hundreds of comments - almost every one is calling for Mason to be sacked. Many comment they were at the match.

Lose at Saints and nothing but a win against Sheffield will turn the ground toxic. I really hope Patel will be at the next two games.

It’s not just bad luck - it’s the constant tinkering and NO tactical plan plus of course the really shocking football. Fans are not stupid as they know things won’t improve whilst Mason and his staff are there!

    Mason out!

Indeed many WBA fan linked sites are expressing similar views.
Omeg makes a good comment on another thread that he suspects that Patel will already have undertaken some manager replacement research.
Maybe we will hear some news in the near future.
A dismissal will no doubt necessitate an interim appointment. I’m not sure I have any relevant knowledge about the suitability of the various assistants ? No one springs to mind to hold the reins ?

I agree Prando. Lose to Saints and Sheffield could be Mason's sacking if the result is not positive. Patel is a very shrewd and ruthless businessman as you would expect anybody to be who's made their fortune so for sure he will be lining up replacements in his head. No the squad is not perfect but come on - they are capable of being around the play offs with a decent manager. I have mentioned Millwall a few times but they spent less than us, play great football but their squad is no better than ours. It's simply down to the manager. If Mason goes then Abella and Morrison should be fired too as a complete clean sweep with new ideas and inspiration.

Lots of deadwood in the playing staff over the last few seasons and in the coaching staff, time for a clear out, they?ve been there too long, as Al says this side should be know where near the bottom
Mason needs to go before we are dragged into a relegation fight because once in it it?s hard to get out, look at Birmingham under Rooney, they never recovered, or is that the ?dark plan? go down to league 1 spend millions and do an Ipswich

          ?Do an Ipswich?

I noticed that Furlong, O?Shea and Kipre started for them yesterday and presumably Palmer & Button were also lurking somewhere

PPS I notice Armstrong got a couple of goals for the Saints also…odds on he’ll score against us

I would have OShea, Kipre and Palmer back, far superior to what we have now, Ipswich can keep Furlong, Button and the appalling Townsend 😉

One single decision has finally made me question Masons ability as a manager. That decision was to drop Griffiths in favour of Wildsmith. Why? Yes, Griffiths has made the odd mistake this season but in general, in my opinion, has been OK. Wildsmith is a poor goalkeeper and I have little confidence in him.
I have always been reticent in calling for a manager to be sacked but my patience is now wearing thin regarding the present incumbent.

But decisions like this have been happening every week alongside the sideways football and sitting to deep inviting attacks and unneeded pressure. I am sure he will be back on Tuesday and another bizarre decision will take place ie MJ dropped again or even Heggebo!

The most defining game for me was against Sheffield Wed. To have drawn at home to this Sunday morning park outfit was unforgivable.

I?d gladly have Palmer and Kipr? back. But, I?d rather have both Furlong and Townsend back instead of the woeful O?Shea - lacks all the assets of a CD.

Yes, but decision making on the pitch, and continually by some worries me more. Agree that there are concerns, but haven't we been here for a fair while now? Bruce, Corberan, Mowbray and now Mason have failed to get regular goals from our wingers and midfielders. This is the area where our biggest problems arise, as our failure to score regularly has put pressure on our back four and keepers. As a pairing, Mowatt and Mulumby, whilst doing their best, just not good enough compared to most of those they usually come up against. The team has not evolved enough over recent years for a variety reasons (mainly Lai), but the transition would surely have been discussed and dealt with prior to Mason's appointment. Looking forward to the January window as there will have to be changes, but hoping things are already moving and we pick up some points beforehand.
