Sending all the illegals home for Christmas to be with their families. Many might disagree with many things he does but not the majority of USA tax payers over this! Meanwhile here the boats keep coming!

If you support all these illegals flooding in then perhaps you can donate or spare a room? I dislike Trump but even most Americans who do too at least acknowledge deporting illegals is a good thing. Look up illegal in the dictionary!Originally posted by baggiematt View PostIncredibly low approval ratings in his own country, the occasional Brit that is obsessed by migrants love him. Trump has got a big something Matt and it is not a heart. The link below is from Sky News today. It suggests some think Trump is losing his marbles. The link indicates he is losing his popularity big time and the thing is, he knows it. He is failing the American people. They should have been careful for what they voted for.Originally posted by baggiematt View PostIncredibly low approval ratings in his own country, the occasional Brit that is obsessed by migrants love him. I don't believe that any individual can be wrong about everything or can be 100% bad so whilst I detest so much about Trump, I don't disagree that illegal immigration was a problem in the US, nor that he has been successful in dealing with it (even if I disagree with some of his methods).
The longer Trump's presidency goes on, the more evident is his narcissism, grifting, misogyny, racism and increasing dementia. Its a good job for free speech in the US that the likes of Jimmy Kimmel, Jon Stewart, Stephen Colbert and Seth Myers are allowed to continue to lampoon this buffoon, surely the worst POTUS in history. Of course Trump detests these tv hosts as he does anyone who is critical of him and they certainly don't come across as impartial but then it is very difficult not to point out the outrageous lies and appalling behaviour of this man or the sycophantic behaviour of so many in his administration. That even MTG has turned against him must surely speak volumes.
And yet many Americans voted for him and the question is why? The answer is surely the same as to why there has been a steady growth in support for populism that predates Trumpism in the US or Reform in the UK and seems to be driven by two key factors-firstly economic climates that see some sections of society seeing their living standards and opportunities decline and, secondly, these sections feeling that their genuine concerns are either being not listened to or are else pooh-poohed by those in charge.
Immigration is (as it has always been in times of economic hardship) the biggest of these concerns and both Trump and Farage have used this issue to help build their support base. If previous government's had listened to growing public concerns on immigration better then we might not be where we are now with this rise in populism. IMHO, they needed only to do two things-1) engage in open and honest debate about immigration so that more people would be aware of the nuances and facts and not be reliant on right-wing propaganda to inform their views and 2) acknowledge the obvious fact that the current levels of immigration are not sustainable and invest in measures that might actually work to curb illegal immigration especially. Both the previous Conservative government and now Labour have failed to do either of these two things. From what I have heard from Mahmood, I personally think the new Foreign Secretary is on the right track with a tougher stance but it may be too little too late as her plans will take time to bear fruit as well as require more investment.
Over in the US, whilst no doubting some of the clear faults and unfairness of ICE there is equally no doubting that significantly curbing illegal immigration is the one election promise that Trump has kept. The moot point however, is that his success on this issue has not seen any improvement in the living standards of the majority of Americans. Despite his bragging (he was at it again last night on a televised speech) inflation is up in the US as is unemployment.
I'm certainly not saying that illegal immigration does not need to be urgently tackled either from an economic or security point of view but it is not-as Farage and others would have us believe-a panacea for all our ills. Stopping illegal immigration will have next to no impact on improving wages, growth, housing availability, our education system or the service provided by the NHS for example. Of course the money saved from not having to house/ feed so many illegal immigrants could be far better used elsewhere but it still would not touch the sides. For those who have watched David Dimbleby's BBC program on the monarchy, more money could be taken from the profits of the Royal duchies to help the public purse.

Anyone seen Donald's latest "improvement" to the White House?😂
Having dismissed the damming Vanity Fair piece based on interviews with Chief of Staff, Susie Wiles, doubled down on his low-bar comments on the death of Reiner, blatantly lied about his achievements on US tv last night and ramped up his new war against the drugs that are "weapons of mass destruction" in Venezuela (no echoes of the war in Iraq there 😁
the Orange One still had time for a bit of re-decorating.
We know from his planned ballroom and the Mar-a-largo style renovation of the Oval Office that this man has class when it comes to his taste in glitz and gold (oddly, something he shares with bestie Vlad) but he has now managed to combine his love of posting late night ramblings on Social Truth with his preferred aesthetics. The new line of portraits of Presidents now all have bronze plaques below them but no mere name and dates for Donald. These plaques offer brief over-views of their tenure written by Trump in his own inimitable style, praising up his own (exaggerated or outright untrue) achievements whilst taking every opportunity to slag off others or insert his own name wherever possible.
You may not care for Kimmel but Trump's own words and actions speak for themselves and all he is doing is pointing them out. Check out Jimmy Kimmel Live on YouTube to see these incredible examples of Trump's narcissism on last night's FCC v Kimmel episode.
God knows, Starmer is weak and frequently inept and I have little or no faith in many of our own politicians but at least we have never elected anyone who comes even close to the unsuitability of this current POTUS.

Some good points there Omeg. I dislike Trump but not quick to be critical because our own government is an absolute laughing stock. Trump is still more popular in the USA with the people than Starmer is within the UK where if there were an election tomorrow - Reform would clean up. Starmer knows this which is why local council elections are being cancelled. Illegal immigration is an absolute massive issue as our Cities are becoming changed beyond belief and within the last month five school girls were raped by Afghans. That's the norm within most of these countries ie Afghanistan where women are treated like dirt on a shoe - the Taliban have again banned all education for girls. So letting these people roam freely within our country is like a stick of dynamite. At this time of year, our homeless should have complete priority as many don't choose to be homeless. Stick the illegals in holding camps whilst they are processed so they can't freely roam and then deport them!
What next from Labour - free television licences for those on benefits? If so - what's the point in working or getting off one's back side!
Many in this country see all these benefits ( now more for 2+ kids) and billions wasted on illegals and wonder why we are sending many billions to Ukraine when it should be invested within our own country and people. Even now Starmer wants the billions from Roman the Chelsea owner - surely it's up to him what he does with the money as he's getting hammered just for association to Putin. We have our own corrupt individuals within and the scandal from members of the Royal Family they just get a smacked hand. To think Starmer wants Rayner back too who defrauded 40 grand! You couldn't make it up.

Hi Al, hope you are good and your backpain/sciatica is easing off. Just came across a brief interview with Ian Hislop on youtube where he makes it clear that he thinks that Starmer has pretty much imploded and that, reluctantly, he too feels that Reform could win an election simply because Labour have proved inept and no other opposition parties-including the Conservatives-seem to offer viable alternatives.Originally posted by baggieal View PostSome good points there Omeg. I think Starmer wants Raynor back simply because that would please the more left-wing side of the party and shore up what support he does have from them but cannot see how this would be tenable.

Good points there Omeg. Oh for another Party who can bring about economic growth, reduce ( not increase ) the welfare payouts and sort out illegal immigration. For me thats not Reform as sadly the country is in a mess and illegal immigration is only one part. So for me another Party who are not wet lettuces, woke, slash payments to those who dont want to work, reverse the two child cap, totally cut crime by revamping the judicial service, and incentivise more companies and businesses to invest in the country. I would also have another vote for rejoining to EU.Originally posted by Omegstrat6 View PostHi Al, hope you are good and your backpain/sciatica is easing off. I still have a feeling that the next election wont be Starmer, Farage, Badenoch and Polanski.
I can see little Rishi making a come back and I would think people would vote for him.
Most people want an alternative to all 4 of the above.
But not Trump. Hes an insipid orange nonce that only Al seems to like.

I actually totally dislike Trump but hes still far more popular in the US than Starmer is here. Even the Americans who hate him give credit for completely stopping and deporting illegals. If we had a politician here ( and its not Farage ) and they were tough on law and order, deported illegals, not a wet woke lettuce and bump started the economy they would be a hero, A further vote on re-entry to the EU again would be a hit! Sadly nobody has the balls!Originally posted by baggiematt View PostI still have a feeling that the next election wont be Starmer, Farage, Badenoch and Polanski.

Corbyn ( probably your a fan ) is more dangerous than Trump as Trident would rot for a start and the people of Gaza would be relocated to London.
As for Rishi - more chance of Jed Wallace being signed by Arsenal 😂

Quite possibly he has suffered such Dubbag, though he is an idiot it may be difficult to tell. Sometimes when he speaks he comes over as a completely buffoon, simply because he exaggerates to make himself look good, he lets his mouth run away without anything to back up what he is actually saying. It is much like Putin, who makes allegations which he is unable to substantiate and denials which clearly are out and out untruths.Originally posted by Dubbag View PostA Doctor friend of mine suggested that he suffered a stroke a while back because he was missing for about two weeks or thereabouts.

Trump is not unique in that mould to be fair, but for a President of America it is unacceptable and in not sitting well with the US electorate.

It feels like there will be a documentary on Trump some day and the next generation will be astounded by the situation the US have with Trump.
A man akin to Jimmy Saville, a convicted criminal, *** pest, crooked, racist, makeup wearing bully voted into power for a second term having suggested during his first term that people should drink dettol to beat covid.
Im sure the next generation will also ask how Americans fell for the fake attempted assassination. Shot in the ear but absolutely no residual ear damage its almost laughable when you think about how much of a conman he is and only the gullible fall for it.
What he wrote about Reiner after his murder was a disgrace. I dont think Starmer is a great PM but its poles apart from the incompetence and corrupt the US voted for.
