Wolves are the first top-flight side in English Football League history to record as little as TWO points after 18 games

They're also the first team to go 18 matches into a top-flight season without winning in 123 years

Is this a lesson for us? Wulfs sacked the manager believing Rob Edwards would fire them up the League, I mean why else would they have sacked the previous bloke? Unfortunately Edwards is proving to be calamitous What if we did the same, Mason is clearly inept, but by installing a new manager he could turn out to be another Edwards.

Baggie Bird could do no worse than Mason. To be fair Wolves have been on the decline for years and only just escaped relegation last season. If Wolves played us tomorrow they no doubt would still hammer us.

For me Carrick or OGS with good championship experience and great contacts. A 34 year old Mason has never managed, does not know the championship and will have very few contacts in comparison,

I totally understand why so many fans have run out of the patience that Nestor's statement was asking for but the concern will always be a "be careful what you wish for" one Phil and it doesn't help, of course, that no-one is privy to who the club may or may not have in mind as an alternative so there is always this feeling of uncertainty.

Some things do seem pretty clear though and one of these is the strong likelihood that there won't be funds to significantly improve the current squad in the January window and that, injury list or not, we will more than likely have to continue with the players we currently have. The second is that, with the right formation and attitude, this group of players can play with intent and enough quality to put in good performances and win games. As Al and others have pointed out, many of the teams above us are genuinely no better in terms of quality than ourselves.

We have seen games where we have shown glimpses of the battling intent needed and put in good performances but the bottom line is that we are far too inconsistent and whilst our injury list or poor refereeing decisions do not help they are certainly not to blame for our current position in the table. That buck stops with Mason whose job it is to get the best performances he can out of this group of players.

Trying to look at it objectively, it is true that there have been some periods in recent games where we have put in decent performance but, equally, every time there are these brief glimpses of improvements and hopes of turning a corner we falter and return to our previous dire form. Winning can become a habit and so can losing but, like many, I am increasingly thinking that Mason is not the man to get them over this confidence hump.

The Nestor open letter seems to suggest that they will stick with Mason for a while longer. Maybe this is simply because they have no-one in the frame who they view as being any better to replace him? Even so, being 16th half way through the season and with no indication of a turn around in form surely has to worry Patel. Fail to put in a spirited performance and take 3 points at home on Monday and maybe the "better the devil you know" approach will finally succumb to that old definition of stupidity being continuing to do the same thing whilst expecting a different result?

I have always been in the camp of let’s give the manager time and let’s not have a jerk reaction attitude. However, at this moment in time I am erring in the opposite direction. The reason for this is that I just do not see any real improvement and any obvious plan. I am usually optimistic regarding Albion but match after match now I am fearing the worst.

I honestly hope that Mason can turn things around but I am at the stage where I do not think that it is going to happen.

Seems to be increasing speculation in some of the press about us showing interest in Carrick-though Blues are also said to be looking at him.

Carrick did manage to do a good job in his first season at Boro in turning things around and getting them into the play offs so he could certainly be a good shout-if we have the money and if he would consider us over any other clubs interested in him.

Morning Omeg - no guarantees for success with anyone but this guy has great contacts and knows the championship inside and out. I would take him.
