  • Mason Sacked

Thank the Lord and good riddance. Hope a new manager clears out the coaching staff too!

Should have gone 2 months ago - Carrick next in line?

Best thing all round, ridiculous appointment, I hope he drops down a couple of leagues, learns and becomes a success, West Brom was too big for an inexperienced rookie

I do feel sorry for Ryan Mason, yes, he has made some very questionable decisions but he has had a paper thin squad, injuries, appalling luck, bad refereeing all contributing to a very difficult environment. Add to that, the sale of our best players, and he must feel that the Gods themselves were against him. Ironically, he gets sacked following the best performance for quite some time, with an iota of luck last night, he would still be in his job and don’t forget that it is never a pleasant experience to lose your job. With our recruitment track record, we might find ourselves with someone even less successful!

I don?t feel sorry for him in slightest.he seems as though his limited knowledge is enough for little old West Brom..almost that we should be grateful having him here.bye bye mason.you should be starting out at gillingham or aldershot.

Respect your view but not the many who have been at matches including last night! My son was there and will now go to Derby but him and his mates who went said enough is enough. Can?t blame them as it?s cost him a fortune to see most of those away games,

              Respect to Shilen!

After losing last night it was inevitable.
A draw I think he would have kept his job for a little while longer.
Financial circumstances haven't helped but he had run out of ideas on how to improve the side.
Not sure if the change will help our form and half a season left is very worrying with our position in the table

Inevitable, but surely one must question the recruitment and appointment decision ? Will he/they be making the replacement to fit their algorithm that was quoted on Mason’s appointment

I believe that Nestor is as much to blame as Mason, maybe more so. I am pro in a minority of one with this but I would have stuck with Mason until the end of the season; there won’t be three teams that overtake us in the league and now we have wasted all the effort that has gone into the season so far. I wish Ryan Mason well, he seems like a decent bloke.

I have sympathy for your viewpoint Ketts and of course Mason had things stacked against him, whether that was financial constraints limiting squad quality/numbers, injury lists or poor refereeing decisions but these were all parts of the job he took on and something I'm sure he would be the first to acknowledge.

I believe the players themselves must shoulder some of the responsibility (as Molumby for one has just come out and said) and playing well and creating chances only to lose due to sloppy defending or poor finishing cannot be laid all at Mason's door. Nonetheless, Mason's starting selections, subs and tactics have played a huge part in where we are now.

The bottom line is that, as a manager, he was tasked to get the best out of the resources available to him and he has not. We all know that this group of players can achieve better. Moreover, despite last night's performance, and much as I would wish otherwise, I still do not believe that he could have got us out of this rut and reversed our slide down the table.

None of us wanted an "old school" manager after Roy and many voiced their desire for a hungry young one instead. Mason-given his lack of experience-was a gamble. He clearly did not lose the dressing room and retained support from the players by the sounds of it but football is results driven and I do not think this was a knee jerk reaction by the club, simply a realisation that we are running out of time to turn things around and that, despite some decent performances at times, Mason was very unlikely to be the man to do so. The very moot point will be who the board have in mind to replace him.

In the meantime, I hope that it isn't too long before Ryan manages to get an appointment elsewhere, in League One perhaps, where he can build on his experience and develop further and I wish him success and the very best for the future.

                        .
Totally agree with you Kettering. Despite my criticism he has not had the best of luck in many games and I wish him well for the future. The big question now is who will be his replacement. Carrick would be my choice.

If I recall correctly it seemed to take ages to appoint Mason based on their criteria and the number of people they interviewed. How long must we wait this time.

I think he got given a tough hand, yes.

But if we were mid table and showing some positive or promising signs. I could live with that. If I thought he was getting the most out of some of our players or I could understand his decision making, I could live with that too.

Unfortunately we were declining this season. Not improving.

And for the life of me, I cannot explain some of his decision making - particularly the Wildsmith call or some of the substitutions.

                              Agree.
Now as per, as before we are looking for a new manager during the transfer window, as well as looking for some players.
You could not make this up. How many times is this now that we have no one at the helm during an open window?
                              It beggars belief.
There is something still quite rotten in the structure of this club. Que window closes and still no manager.
