    Thanks for that Phil.

I was devastated at the time, Tony Godden was my hero, the team I played for wore green and yellow stripes, green shorts and socks, I had a few arguments with the guy that ran the team as I wore yellow socks and a red keepers shirt not the blue one put out
      Great days

Not seen this clip before though so I presume-as one of the YouTube comments says-that the original tv recording is long gone and this is from an old cine-camera recording of that original broadcast as the first VHS video recorders didn't start to come out until that year (78) I believe?

I was at that game but it just shows how the. memory over time can falter. When I look back I remember it as Dalgleish coming from behind Godden to take the ball from him and not from the front.

That's how the commentator on the radio explained it as well. That Daghlish was behind Godden as he rolled it out.
            Funny alright.

I was standing right behind the goal when that happened. People around me were screaming "No don't do that" as they saw him about to drop the ball to his feet as was customary among all goalkeepers under the old maximum steps rule.

Credit to Dalgleish, though. he completely turned around a game that Liverpool were losing and starting to get a look of fear on their faces that we might actually be better than them. Cunningham in particular was making them look ordinary. I honestly believe we would have won the game and gone on to win league had Dalgleish not done that.

I have never blamed Godden, but have often lamented what migth have been.
