Decent 1st half with us deservedly one up.
Spirited 2nd half with some dirty stuff from Blackburn?but I guess only to be expected in this tough Championship league.
Tremendous defensive efforts from ALL the team in terms of commitment, determination and putting bodies on the line, to keep Blackburn out.
A continuance of this team togetherness will satisfy me this season?irrespective of results.

To be fair a good individual performance all round.

    Highlights for me?

Heggebo : great debut. Old fashioned centre forward, tough, hardworking, holding play up and involving players around him. Maybe not the most skilful, but it will do for me.

Nat Phillips : what a breath of fresh air. A leader and dedicated defender. What a great acquisition. Happy to go toe to toe with their thug No 9?and come out on top.

Decent and sensible substitutions - clearly Wallace has impressed Mason, and Campbell, albeit very short time on, looked composed in a battle situation.

Heggem : we must keep him - such a great paring with Nat.

Reading the comments following the Noses match, this will be a war of a season.

Good post Prando. Thought the second booking was harsh but Furlong off the pace. To be fair he could have got the yellow card a bit earlier for that tackle. You can?t be off the pace and jump with elbows everywhere! Phillips should be made captain and keep the armband as a leader!

    Impressed again with Price

Furlong defended well at times but was beaten for pace several times which ended up with him resorting to the dark arts, could have been sent off earlier, the actual sending off was rather harsh, Styles played very well but we do need two new fullbacks

It needs working on a bit but I was pleased seeing much more urgency in the play. I hope that predictable, pedestrian, dull and sometimes risky style of play is now a thing of the past,

Blood swtat and tears too right .
We got a lucky scrappy goal and never made another chance - 2 long range shots off target . We defended 11 men behind the ball no outlet , no concern for Blackburn defence . Sure we defended well but is this the plan ? No press in second half and defend a 1 goal lead . Like I said Mason is not the solution

I fear for us at Wrexham! Mowatt definitely the weak link and whilst I like Molumby for his tenacity there?s a lack of talent and creativity.

Oh for another Mulumbu! The Engine is the most important cog and that?s the midfield

You, like me have absolutely no clue about Mason or his ability to manage the side. Certainly not enough to say with certainty that he wont be the answer.

We created the best chances and should have had 3. Price and Heggebo should have scored their chances.

It is a tight league and we are not a big hitter. Corberan knew this. We have to defend well to win games and we wont steamroll sides like Blackburn. To expect that is a bit daft.

Give him chance, time and a few signings.

Totally agree Matt. I was pleased for Mason we got the three points. A good solid pacy midfielder is a must for me as Mowatt and Molumby don?t offer pace or creativity.

Blackburn no mugs so a decent start!

Just a thought who will get sent off first next week, Mc Lean or Molumby?

Agree with you Matt. Yesterday was a typical game of two halves but good to see a more committed and intensive performance from the team and with some of the forward movement, in the first half particularly, I can begin to see what Mason is after.

It is very early days yet and Mason only has the players he has but whilst we certainly need to improve on the final third and more clinical finishing, it was also good to see a return to a more Corberan-esque defensive display-especially after some of the rather woeful defensive displays in the pre-season games. We did create some chances but we do not have goal scoring prowess and so it is equally important that we defend well and do not concede. Not the style of play that Mason-or the players-want, but needs must. Until we can improve on our goal scoring, I think we will see a few more of these backs-to-the-wall defensive displays.

Given the above, I am even more persuaded that to sell Heggem at this time would be a mistake. If we do really need the money, then I would reluctantly rather sell Fellows. I still believe he has great potential -and, of course, he got 14 assists last season-but he was disappointing yesterday again and, for whatever reason, is too often stifled in games.

As for midfield, very much agree with Al that we need a creative player there but without the funds, we will have to use what we have. Hopefully Bany will demonstrate his worth when he returns and Maja will come back with his shooting boots on so that we can improve on both creating more chances and seizing them when they come. (I can hope!

Hopefully, Jayson will have learnt to curb his, um, "passion"?

In all seriousness though, we cannot allow a return to the lack of discipline we saw last season, regardless of frustration. I didn't like it, but it is the game now and I can live with Furlong's first yellow yesterday. Beaten for pace, he elected to cynically push his man but his second yellow was a bit harsh IMHO. What I really don't like are those fouls committed through sheer petulance or lack of control. Certainly cannot afford them this season.

Afternoon Omeg - the second yellow was extremely harsh but a yellow should have been issued to Furlong just prior to that. Furlong reminds me a bit like Livermore before the end - petulant and mistimes tackles because of a lack of pace. Furlong and Molumby cost us last season so no time for it this season.

Mistiming comes about because of frustration in the lack of pace and talent.
