  • Decent Fighting Spirit

Whilst disappointed not to grab the 3 points, I thought the whole team put a decent shift in.
Price was clearly trying to win back our support - I was pleased to see that.
Dike surprised me. Little support, but looked as good as the recent form of Heggebo and Maja. Brave of Ramsey to give him this opportunity to start.
Still felt a little nervous with O Leary, but to be fair made a decent save and no clangers.
The new Villa lad showed some good touches and was feeling his way. Some promise there I believe.
Thw Mowatt / Molumby pairing worked well, with the latter earning MOTM for me.
Defence did their job satisfactorily, and Imrah, despite a couple of initial poor touches, settled in well.
Johnstone unfortunately was not at his best, refusing to release the ball early - and indeed unnecessarily lost possession 3 times - we were fortunate Stoke did not capitalise.

All in all, much, much better than the Pompey game?it needed to be!

Would agree completely with the fighting spirit Prando and clearly the players put in the effort. I thought Wallace and Gilchrist put in a shift too. For me though Price goes missing too much and Dike has completely lost his sharpness and does nothing for me.

All in all a big positive and do think they need something at Blues as Coventry will come to win and probably will with their talent.

I do not think we will go down!

Very difficult to judge by just being able to listen to the game rather than watch it, but the above also sums up my impressions Prando (including Molumby as MOTM)

Good to at least hear both that our shape was better and that the players battled so something to build on. The defence today was obviously better than it has been in recent games (Gilchrist particularly sounded far better than in his previous outings) and being able to pair Molumby and Mowatt in midfield again also strengthened us in that area of the pitch. Our issue is still being able to create decent chances and to actually convert the ones we do get.

Mikey was clearly not at his best today and doubtless still suffering from his injury but Jimoh-Aloba sounded promising when he did get the ball so hopefully more to come from him. Wallace always seems to do well when he plays but he can't do 90 minutes so maybe this might allow Bostock his opportunity?

It's the number 9 slot that we seem to have an issue with. Personally, I would rate Heggabo above the others as he battles and holds the ball up better even if he seems to have lost his shooting boots again but, to be fair, none of them will have much opportunity to score if they are not given the support or service. In the absence of Grant, I would play Heggabo and Dike together as Maja still sounds off the pace and Dike looks fitter.

As for Price, he has been underwhelming for a while now but then, having watched some of his games for N.Ireland, other than some flashes of brilliance, he failed to make much of an impact for large parts of those matches either. I'm not doubting that there is a decent player in there somewhere and that he has potential but I'm a bit unsure as to how to unlock that and, to be honest, I'm not sure what the best position to play him is either. He at least he sounded more up for it today but maybe the simple answer is that he isn't quite as good as we think/ hope he is?

With Campbell and Bielik already out through injury, my other concern from today is the likely hamstring injury to Mepham. Like others, Mepham upped his game today but if we lose him to injury as well it weakens our defensive options with some tough games coming up.

Ah well, at least it was a huge improvement on the last game, we didn't lose and we are lifted out of the bottom 3 courtesy of other results. Something to build on.

        I agree
We are moving in the right direction and not being in the bottom 3 is a relief.
Hopefully there is a little more calm for the next few days before we face Birmingham

The most interesting thing for me is Ramseys flexibility.

A lot of young managers have one style and dont move from it. ItÂ’s also quite hard to shift away from a system used successfully all through his managerial career at a time when the stakes are so high. Val didnt and it ultimately cost him.

Credit to him and its actually made me think just maybe he can make it here.

A win would make such a big difference to confidence and the belief the team have in him.

Just got up and seen the result. That score should mean more disappointment and that they must be as boring as buggery. Actually I feel quite pleased. Perhaps this is indicative of just how low the performance bar has now been set but it has to be onwards and upwards

This is my second time. I really like it and there are some great places. Naturally others not so great but that?s only natural. Great lifestyle and I have met some very friendly and welcoming types. However, they do tend to swear a lot and drink a fair bit of beer. Places I have enjoyed are Perth, Freemantle (swam way out into the lovely blue ocean there and discovered that a bloke was taken by a shark at the same place the next day), Northern Territory (wilnderness character which I really like), Queensland (sub tropical), Sydney (beautiful location) and Melbourne. Going to Tasmania tomorrow. I?m lucky in that this time I am staying with a mate who knows the place so we can get off the beaten track. Well worth visiting but you must give yourself a bit of time.

Our younger son (48 !) has lived in Melbourne for nearly 20 years. He’s a keen runner ( number of marathons done ) and runs most days along the coast nearby to his house in Hampton. Often wearing a baggies top. On one occasion he passed another guy running the other way also wearing a baggies shirt They had a brief chat and carried on. Small world eh.

Good one Dan! A clued up manager would have looked at perhaps the Leicester match and assessed the strengths and weaknesses and formation. Only a fkin idiot would come in and stick players in uncomfortable positions so they don?t know what to do! Another Ryan Mason or actually worse! Can you imagine a new boss coming into a department and changing everything overnight and still hold respect from their team when clearly it does not work! I bet Morrison thought - what a prize w anker! As for Bostock, Williams and Whitwell - I would get their agents to ask other clubs to come and nosy. Recruitment and ambition sadly has always been a big fat zero at our club!

He gets drafted in to fix a sh*t team with no confidence and 3 games in 4 training sessions. He only stopped the system after pompey when he actually had time to try to implement it.

A lot of managers are obsessed with 3 at the back. Look at Amorim. At least he has adapted.

Good morning Matt. Firstly I don't think anyone expected Eric Ramsay to build Rome in a day but he'd had more than four training sessions over those first three games. Secondly he changed the system in the second half against Boro. His first game. Because Plan A wasn't working.

We score two goals and he decides to take the best from that half's football moving forward. How did he set about that? By reverting to Plan A in his very next game albeit with different personnel in positions and roles they were uncomfortable with. A relegation rival then tore us a new one.

Derby sat back and barely bothered with the game after going a goal up because they knew we had nothing to offer. We got lucky with a set piece goal following a corner which should have been a goal kick. Then we had the Pompey debacle. My memory is still trying to fathom what my eyes were telling me at Fratton Park.

He changed the system against Stoke and kept it changed for the Blues game. We kept two clean sheets and got two much needed points. The players were clearly more comfortable and it was obvious they knew where they were supposed to be and what they were meant to be doing when they were there.

He changed the system for both games because he was running out of centre backs. It wasn't an example of flexibility. It's called an injury list. I'm really hoping he doesn't revert to Plan A at the first opportunity because the players will need the flexibility of limbo dancers to avoid relegation. We've got two points from the last eight een available. Here's hoping for more.

                              COYB .
