Heggebo - Dike or Maja? Is there much to decide between these duds?

Midfield will be key to stop Franks pacey bunch! Do we keep with Molumby and Mowatt?

    Do we keep with Price?

    Gilchrist instead of Imray?

The best change I would make would be Morrison instead of that clown 🤡

Let?s hope Frank rests some players! Jed won?t manage Saturday and Tuesday FFS so maybe give Bostock another opportunity.

Not seen Patel much at games this year is there a reason?

Has to be Heggebo or Dike up top because they at least win headers and put themselves about.

Molumby and Mowatt have to play, we have a little bit of control in there when they do.

I think Gilchrist has to play ahead of Imray, Imray is just too much of a defensive liability.

I would play Price too, because I think he gives us some legs in the middle and he runs a lot. Perhaps a goal is what he needs to boost his confidence.

I would play Jed and Jimoh on the wings.

Not sure what else you can do with this squad. We've got to eek out 3-4 wins and a few draws to be safe. If we keep it tight, we give ourselves a chance. We've managed to do that last couple of league games.

I would go with most of what you say 123 and like you, not sure who I would play up front. If Johnstone is fully fit I would play him in preference to Wallace though.

I agree with you LB. Johnston whilst a bit off form needs to at least start. Johnston poses a threat and can run whereby Wallace looks knackered after 30 minutes. How we have declined when Wallace was on the decline 2 years ago when Fellows was a different class and now starting FFS.

I would go for fiat footed Heggebo up front as at least he holds the ball up where Dike would be better off at Barnsley again!

That said depending on the next three games we could be on our travels to Barnsley next season. Good Northern pies sold there so at least Myhill will be happy 😭

Seems a good shout to me too, my only caveat being that -as others have said- if Mikey is fit enough, I would certainly play him even if rotated with Jed. Depending on how Jimbo-Aloba does, I'd also consider giving Bostock a run out. Hopefully Campbell will be back from his injury too to boost our defensive options.

Well, so far they put 3 behind Middlesbrough, a Boro that put 3 behind us? So, not overly optimistic?

Coventry after a good win will be rampant. Do not worry our defence will hold firm 😂😂

Just looking at the stats for the Coventry Middlesbrough game as didn’t see the match…

Shots Cov 10 (4 on target) Middles 13 (4 on target)
                  Possession Cov 30%. Middles 70%
                  Fouls. Cov 17. Middles 12
                  Corners. Cov 3. Middles 2

Seems Coventry were not really on the front foot, but clearly did enough when it mattered. Mason’s Moments Maybe

Notwithstanding, I finding it difficult to positive…where are you Soulman buddy - help

Good morning Paul, I hope you and SWMBO are well. Coventry pressed well and were more clinical in front of goal than Borough but other than that they weren't anything particularly special. As for positives ahead of Saturday........ anything can happen in a game of football involving West Bromwich Albion. COYB .

That?s a very good point Dan! If we start off on the back foot and concede early we are doomed.
Hopefully Campbell is back and I would certainly start Johnston and Heggebo as Charlton more the match for our Jed. What are your thoughts on Jamal as opposed to Bostock?

Probably be park the bus, hoof it long to Heggebo and hope for the best, end up losing 0-2 but taking the positives out of the game, meanwhile one more step into oblivion

Morning. From what little I've seen of him I like the look of Jamma. I think he's further down the road in his development than Bostock. He definitely looks stronger too. I'd like to see him play more centrally though. Bostock in turn should have had more game time this season. A lot more, even if only from the bench. Criminally underused.

Wouldn't mind starting them both. If we went 4231 for example play Johnston on the right with Jamma behind Heggebo and Bostock on the left. Pace, movement, technique. If Johnston doesn't make it I'd go with Mustapha on the right of that three. I do like the look of him and think those three could bring the best out of each other and Heggebo.

That notwithstanding we'd need to get within at least thirty to forty yards of an opponents goal for them to best showcase themselves. They could still work as a more defensive 451 or 4411 but I wouldn't fancy inviting teams onto us for 90+ minutes. We would still need to give opponents something to think about going forwards in open play.

Agree completely with all that Dan! For me though the weak link has always been Mowatt and Molumby unless they raise their game! Would you play both of them? What about Diakite? Heard Field was decent with good stats so again would he be better than what we have now?

Central midfield is a problem and has been for years Al. There's no denying that. I believe Price was recruited to solve the problem by linking midfield with attack as an eight but he's always picked to play anywhere but. That will in part be due to him being careless in possession but also because the balance in the middle wouldn't be right.

If you play Price let him run onto the ball from space to exploit holes as he does for NI. Don't play him in the pockets looking for intricate flicks and layoffs because his decision making isn't the best. That said he's often been put upon to play roles he's not best suited to due to injuries elsewhere and a squad with little in the way of balance.

A younger Mowatt, a left footed Diakite or Molumby would probably help but each has their own limitations. Our central midfield is indicative of just how poor the recruitment has been. Rather than sourcing and buying players with all the essentials such as a Louza at Watford or a Hackney at Borough we've been going with players with a bit of this and a bit of that.

There's been so little joined up thinking I could be excused for thinking there hasn't actually been any. It's almost as though we've been building squads on the cheap even when we have had money to spend. And we did spend in the summer due to the release out of contract players and due to PSR related sales. It just wasn't spent wisely.

As for Field he started well but faded as the game wore on. I always liked Field. But for P@rdw@nk and a succession of injuries during his development I think he would have done very well for us over the years. In fact I wouldn't have been averse to him coming back during the last window. Left footed, well balanced, versatile and can tackle and pick a pass. Sounds just like what we should have been looking for.
