  • Andrew Mountbatten Arrested

Jesus - thats a big catch! Not so smug now!

Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor has been arrested on suspicion of misconduct in public office

I am not going to pre judge but the problems appear to be stacking up against him. To be arrested there has to be serious evidence that. he has to answer to. This is not a good look for our country and no matter what opinions are held regarding the Royal Family I have sympathy for them as it must be extremely difficult to carry out their duties with all this going on in the background.

Everything I have ever read about him paints him as an over-entitled grifter so am hardly surprised about allegations of him mis-using his position as trade envoy to further feather his own nest - including the leaking of confidential documents. Whether or not this might have been smoothed over had he not embroiled himself with Epstein is another matter.

In any case, good to see that even a member of the Royal Family is not "above the law"-even if the "Firm"'s hand has perhaps been forced by public opinion.

Lots of opinions in the media about how this reflects on the rest of the Royal Family and the concept of monarchy as an institution. Personally, I feel that -whilst it is still bound to taint them to an extent -the decision to (quite rightly) not try and protect Andrew Mountbatten Windsor from police investigation on top of the decisions already made by Charles to strip him of his titles and main privileges in the light of his lies and association with Epstein will limit the damage to the monarchy.

As Leics. points out, we might also have sympathy for other members of the Royal Family at this time who are not complicit in the actions and behaviour of this former prince. It's not nice to think about, but a similar situation could happen to all families after all.
