  • Reform landslide incoming…

Maybe not, has the reform honeymoon period ended? Because they just got beat by a plumber, female plumber.

Matt Goodwin Ramsay doppelgänger just got beat by a plumber. Not a great week. It just goes to show Reform are a one man party.
I don’t agree with all the policies of Greens but they sure do focus on real issues.

Did you say it was a plumber? Really? A plumber? A female plumber? As in like a doe? A deer? A female deer? Baggies Banter is alive and well courtesy of The Sound of Regis (sound of music reference). Again. Seriously though, if you're trying to troll Al I suspect you've turned up in the wrong playground. Just make sure not to tell Boingy his new playmate is a former playmate in disguise .

Ps. What's wrong with a plumber being female?

I think they all know who John is. There has been many hints from one or two on the other side and John’s philosophy is much akin to Al’s.

I hope Al is ok, as he has been quiet of late and I believe he was undergoing further tests.

Regarding plumbing, the trade has always referenced male and female fixings but I am sure you don’t live so high on a mountain you wouldn’t have known this.

Same re Al OB. As for the male and female fixings there's probably more chance of me placing my plunger into a mountain goat than Reforming s e x ual relations with She Who Pulls A Face At Such Things .

Personally, I thought Hannah Spencer's speech about working hard no longer being any guarantee of gaining a "better life" or financial security pretty spot on. The divide in wealth distribution in this country has grown considerably in recent years and this is no longer about the gap between the mega rich and the rest.

Years of Conservative government may not be solely to blame but -whilst continuing to push the lie that working hard in itself would reap financial rewards-they oversaw the flourishing of the gig economy and the erosion of workers rights and public services whilst protecting the interests of the wealthy including the owners of businesses who could well afford to pay their workers more than minimum wage but chose, instead, to protect the profits of their CEOs and shareholders. Those same owners who criticised the size of the benefits bill but were happy to let universal credit top up the wages of their poorly paid employees.

Don't get me wrong, the whole benefits system badly needs a major overhaul in order to both prevent its exploitation by the feckless and better support those in genuine need. Part of the solution to this is surely to create better job opportunities and for this we need to encourage business growth so I am certainly not anti-business but I am anti greed and against business owners that line their pockets out of exploiting their workforce.

The government needs to find a way both to encourage new businesses ( a better version of Thatcher's Enterprise Zones for example that might genuinely create more jobs rather than encourage companies to simply relocate existing ones) and encourage more young people into entering sectors where they are more likely to find employment opportunities (e.g. apprenticeship schemes). At the same time, protections need to be in place to ensure that workers are not exploited through overly poor wages or conditions.

So far, Starmer and Co. have shown themselves pretty inept (at best!) in addressing the raft of issues that this country faces but there are no easy solutions. The same issues that seem to have dominated politics forever-access to decent housing, education, social/public services, healthcare or jobs-are very much still with us and have been exacerbated by world events such as Covid and the actions of leaders like Putin or Trump. Labour don't seem to have the answers and I don't believe that the Conservatives or Lib Dems do either. In such times, the rise of Populism is almost inevitable with the likes of Reform finding the normal racial scapegoats to blame all our ills on and exploiting very genuine concerns over immigration levels to push their agenda whilst failing to come up with any tangible solutions beyond the rhetoric. But Populism too is failing. Look across the Pond and see how the ratings of their Toddler in Chief has plummeted. Despite his success in curbing illegal immigration his boasting about how great his achievements on the economy have been are increasingly seen to be either gross exaggeration or outright lies.

Hannah Spencer seems, to me, quite right in her assertation that working hard is increasingly no guarantee of a better life. I also think that people must be pretty blind not to see that climate change is actually real but do the Greens really convince me that they have the solutions (or political nouse) to solve the huge range of problems we currently face in the UK-or even the answers to the most worrying ones? Sadly, no. But then-even sadder still-none of our political parties do😞

I was down at the golf club this morning and we were all quite excited about the result last night. We are hoping that if the Greens get into power and legalise Class A drugs then we should all be able to hit the ball straighter and further with a couple of doses!

She's also just qualified as a plasterer too don't forget!
Good for her. She may not get rich out of it anytime soon but in my experience there is always a demand for decent sparkies, plumbers and plasterers so I only expect to see more women entering such trades.

Btw Haven't peeked into the new playground myself yet but the "john"/ Boingy relationship sounds interesting 😀 Never had problems with Boingy personally and hope he is well along with any other posters who have chosen to move across there.

Being legally able to fall down a K hole Tipps and you won't care about golf or anything else for that matter-even any woes over the Albion 😁 Maybe best stick to a Class B doob and giggle your way through the course and then any poor shots won't seem so important?

More worrying things to deal with at the moment than engage in political s hite! The scans were not good news but will try and post as and when. Life?s a bitch but hey ho.

I am not John on the other site but do appreciate his footballing brain. Certainly not me though as not childish to have alias names and more to the point saying I beg to differ on almost every post is not my style especially when responding to utter dribble like we should retain players like Maja, Wallace and Bany plus the two midfielders Mowatt and Molumby who are complete and utter s hite and have been a big part of our problems for the last two years. FFS!!!

I will need to stay positive though so might predict a 2-0 win this weekend 😭

I?m so glad you finally registered and have been contributing to the dark site 68. Pleasure to have you there even if you?re using a different alias. 😄

I hadn?t realised Al was away, hope all is well mate.

I do not agree with the new Gorton and Denton Green MP when she states that they can now win in any part of the country. There were specific reasons for their victory and these reasons are not replicated nationwide.

So sorry to hear that the scan results were not good Al but hope that they can still do something for you that can help and at least make you feel more comfortable. In the meantime, I'm sure you've already lined up a bottle or two of decent reds in preparation for the transformation of our shambles of a football team into a lethal goal scoring machine away at Oxford on Saturday 😂

Anyhow, all the very best, hope you begin to feel better soon and that a decent win tomorrow will at least bring some cheer!
