  • Chelsea Fine

Do not understand why they cheating t wats do not get a points deduction like other clubs in lower divisions as fining a club who have such riches does not hurt them!

Chelsea have been handed the Premier League's biggest fine along with a one-year transfer ban suspended for two years.

The total fine of ?10.75m relates to secret payments made to agents worth ?47.5m between 2011 and 2018, when Roman Abramovich was owner, and breaches of rules around registering youth players.

The investigation determined these payments "occured with the knowledge and approval" of former senior employees and/or directors, the sanction agreement shows.

It is clearly unacceptable but perhaps unsurprising. The fact that a club can, you cannot call it anything other than cheat, and be given a small fine in terms of the gains is despicable. It appears the Premier League has again tarnished the name of the once great game.

A level playing field it is not. The money men talk and it does make one consider what goes on behind closed doors and whether there is financial benefits available to some individuals involved in football.

It?s like fining a multi millionaire 30 quid for a parking fine and they laugh!

Totally agree with you both. The fine is neither appropriately punitive or corrective.

I love the game, but sometimes I do wish that all the debts of the Premier League clubs and their foreign counterparts were suddenly called in at once 😀 I do understand, of course, that very many businesses rely on hefty loans and investments but given the frankly obscene amounts of money swilling about the top echelons of the game -including player's salaries -I find this particular decision I quite appalling. What they did was to deliberately cheat the system pure and simple.Sadly, not a surprise though😞

We await the slap on the wrist for Man City. The fine no doubt will be worth a couple of hours to the owner in the UAE! Cheats!

This is why I hope that Arsenal win the Premiership this season. Both Man. City and Chelsea should have the trophies that they won, when under these circumstances, taken off them. Will never happen though!

I agree. I would like Arsenal to win as Arteta is a class act and has cajones too for playing a kid just turned 16. God help the lad if he was at West Brom!

When I first read the news of this my immediate thought was here we go, they're setting an extremely low bar precedent for whatever so called punishment awaits Manchester City. But an admittedly quick read of an article on Sky throws a slightly different slant on things. When Blueco bought Chelsea they did an audit on Abramovic's transfer activities and payments to football agents etc during his time as owner.

It was Blueco who found the irregularities and it was Blueco who handed the details and some 200,000 documents over to the Premier League for further investigation. They've been transparent and cooperative with the football authorities from day one. This is why their fine and embargos are lower than what may otherwise have been expected. Despite this the FA are also conducting their own investigations and may yet impose further sanctions.
