  • Bye Bye Heggem?

Off to Bologna it seems as they have upped bid to £10 million plus add ons according to the E & S. Shame as he and Phillips looks as if they could become a really good pairing.

WBA - West Brom came into this summer transfer window knowing a big sale was likely, and it looks set to be Torbjorn Heggem who goes.

Only good if every penny is reinvested but will it? I don?t feel it will looking at our squad. Taylor whilst ok last night apart from the stupidity of giving away the free kick is too slow and not good enough for me. Then you have two clowns in goal.

With no Heggem on Saturday and Griffiths in goal - glad I?m not going!

Hi , I thought Taylor did well last night ,but likes to play on the right side .
With Philips playing on the right ,will George Campbell get the nod ?

Why let one of our best players leave? He and Phillips would have been a strong pairing at the heart of our defence. What worries me is who could be next, Fellows, Price? Not the best way to be building for the future.

Taylor did well Lloyd despite the free kick but he looks a bit slow. Campbell looked fab and can see Williams taking Furlongs place sooner rather than later.

Depends whether the club reinvest the money and I have doubts whether they will. Awful timing if he?s going on!

Can Wallace go instead or Dike? Two for one?

                  Undoubtedly a loss for us.
For me, Campbell seems the obvious partner for Philips, with Taylor on the bench. (As an aside, I also consider Williams has earned a squad position)
Heggem provided the essential cover for the high ball regularly targeted at Styles. Hopefully Campbell would similarly fulfil that role.

Tbh, I thought that Taylor and Campbell dealt with high balls into the area really well last night and probably better than the Heggam and Bartley combination last season. Once you add Phillips to that equation, I am fairly confident going forward.

Great Williams featured as to be honest he looked an upgrade on Furlong. I would like to see young players ( playing tonight ) - Whitwell and Bostock given a chance.

Why bring on players like Wallace which weakens the team every-time when youngsters could be given a go!

No objection to Jed being Boiler Man!

Personally, I think selling Heggem is a mistake. Unless we suddenly start to be able to bang in goals I can foresee a few second halves like our opening game when we end up desperately defending a one goal lead.

With a weak GK, we need a strong defence and yes, both Williams and Campbell sounded promising, but the former has a lot to learn and the latter admits that the transition to the "grind" of the Championship will take time. Caleb did alright on loan but from what I read, he lacks pace and still learning.

Probably all academic by the time I post this, but I thought Phillips and Heggem would work well together and provide us with both the experience and steel needed in our centre backs. Of course the profits would be good from his sale but if we really do need the money, then I'm with Al and would reluctantly rather sell Tom at this time.

The club is being run at a loss.
You're allowed to lose so many million over a rolling 3 year period. 10's of millions in fact.
If you go over then you're in trouble, so as the club has stated we are not out of the woods and need to act accordingly.
I think the GK position is the most important to fix so if its heggem or fellows, one needs to go to obtain the right GK.
Window shuts end of Sept I think so we will fret until then I guess.

This is exactly what we need to be doing as a club. Buying players for 500k and selling them a year later for 10m. Don't get too attached to players, they are commodities to be brought and sold. For far too long now we've held onto players instead of cashing in, Jonny Evans and Berahino come to mind.

Look at teams like Brighton and Brentford, they regularly sell their best players and replace them with their excellent scouting department. These are the sides we need to benchmark ourselves against and copy.

For the first time in a long time, I have got a lot of faith in the people making these decisions at the club. We need to reinvest the Heggem money and do the same thing again. Buy low and sell high.

It should be said, there will be bumps in the road. For every Heggem, there will be a Frabotta. But I'm a lot happier with this model than the one we had 5 years ago which signed Diangana, Grant and Zohore for a combined 30m+.

Looks like Krystian Bielick the centre half from Blues is going to sign for us .
Also Toby Collyer ,youngster from Man u on loan for the season, he is a midfielder .
Which could the likes of Harry Whitwell going out on loan .
Wrexham are signing a winger from Ipswich for a record ?10m
